PROS: The overall sculpt and size is good, making it manageable for most display applications. The deco has a nice mix of glossy and matte finishes (with a few paint application issues) to give depth and realism to the dynamic pose. The statue has some heft to it so it doesn’t in any way feel cheap or plasticy. Imperial cog base gives it nice presentation while making it very stable for displaying. No assembly required.
CONS: A bit pricey for the size and its limited edition (500 piece) production run is driving up the secondary price on eBay with listings ranging from $200-$1000.

For my initial toyguide entry for the Black Series Yoda (#22), my loose sample (acquired off eBay) had the date/trademark stamp on the front of each leg. I’m happy to say after securing a carded sample and opening it, the offending info has moved to its rightful place on the back and side of the legs. Earth shattering I know, but it does correct a bit of an aesthetic eyesore that others, including myself, took note. Click the image above for a closer look (L=ebay/R=Production). The Yakface Toyguide updates resume with our next entry in the The Black Series 3-3/4″ line. Today, we take a look at the Snowtrooper Commander (#24).
PROS: Hands down the best Snowtrooper Commander we’ve ever been offered, it also may be the best Snowtrooper ever. Everything about this figure works from the sculpt and articulation, to the deco, to the refreshing nonexistent human head under the helmet. At first I wasn’t sure about Hasbro’s choice in using plastic for the “skirt” of the figure, but once in-hand, I was surprised at how much I liked the design and the integrated holster is a nice touch as well.
CONS: If there was anything to take issue with is that the hands do pop off rather easily when trying to pose the figure holding the blaster with both hands – an issue that often accompanies figures with wrist/forearm joints. Also, the silver disks are missing on the flares of each side of the helmet.
