Last week, I began to feel some of my worst fears for the Black Series were coming to fruition as I see so few retailers ordering new product for the Christmas shopping season.
By contrast, there are action figure lines that are thriving; so don’t let Hasbro fool you into thinking that kids don’t like action figures anymore, or they don’t like articulation… as those of us know who check more than the Star Wars section, other toy lines like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are constantly selling out and being restocked these past several months.
What do you think? Is Hasbro going to finally right this ship in 2014? Share your thoughts in the forums!
One of the most memorable moments of Star Wars: A New Hope featured Luke and Han, dressed as Stormtroopers, sneaking into Detention Block AA-23 with Chewbacca to rescue the captive Princess Leia. Gentle Giant is proud to give homage to that scene with our new Han in Stormtrooper Disguise Deluxe Statue. Featuring interchangeable heads (one a Stormtrooper helmet, the other Han’s likeness), and two sets of arms, this dynamic statue is perfect for the casual fan and the hardcore statue collector alike!
Amazon continues to destroy expectations and the competition with their aggressive prices for this year’s hottest Star Wars collectibles. The exclusive Slave I is now down to a ridiculous $34.99! Hurry they won’t last too long at this price.
This week, Toys”R”Us is having a Buy 1, get 1 40% off sale on all their Hasbro Star Wars merchandise. Sale includes all figures, playsets and role play items.
Here we are, just a couple weeks away from Christmas – and there are warning signs all over that The Black Series may be in trouble.
Retailers simply aren’t stocking anything past the first wave of 3.75″ scale figures even during the holiday season, while online stores like Amazon are marking down figures from the first two waves for as little as $2.55 each. This doesn’t seem to bode well for the future of this line. Head on over to the forums and share your thoughts… and it’s not like we didn’t warn Hasbro of these concerns when they first revealed their lineup for the first two waves…
Today marks the fourth annual Wear Star Wars Share Star Wars Day in support of Katie Goldman, a young girl who was a target of bullying on account of her love for Star Wars. You can read about her story here and donate an unwrapped toy to commemorate the event.
