DCSWCC Has Big Plans for Celebration V

The Washington DC Area Star Wars Collecting Club (DCSWCC) is pleased to announce exciting activities and exclusives for Star Wars Celebration 5. All activities are free with your paid admission to Celebration 5 – just stop by the DCSWCC booth #1421 in the main Exhibit Hall.

Trench Run Mini Golf will challenge participants to send a golf ball “proton torpedo” into the thermal exhaust port, dodging TIE fighters along the way. Sinking a hole-in-one will earn you a prize such as one of five unique pieces of the officially licensed Celebration 5 Collector’s Club Patch (four other clubs will be distributing other pieces elsewhere at Celebration).

DCSWCC’s unique Wampa Cave Photo Prop puts the participant’s face in place of Luke’s – hanging upside down after being captured by the wampa! To create the effect, you can try taking the picture with your camera upside-down, or (much more easily) just flip the photo after you get home.

Free give-aways for the weekend include: four different pin-back badges featuring artwork used in our four charity cloisonne lapel pins (one design per day). A set of four large stickers in the style of General Mills’ 1978 breakfast cereal promotion, but with imagery from The Empire Strikes Back in honor of its 30th anniversary (one design per day). Stop by our booth to see what other surprises we have in store!

In addition, DCSWCC will be selling their 2008 and 2010 bi-annual charity lapel pins. These pins are high-quality cloisonne pins, officially licensed by Lucasfilm. The 2008 pin features animated Boba Fett, while the 2010 pin features Luke on his tauntaun. All proceeds benefit the Aluminum Cans for Burned Children Program of Fairfax County VA, and the Believe in Tomorrow foundation in Baltimore MD.

DCSWCC is one of the largest and most active collecting clubs in America, with over 60 active members. The club meets monthly and holds special events throughout the year such as socials, picnics, and “Roadshow” appraisal events. For more information, visit the club website athttp://www.dcswcc.org

Jodo Kast (Bounty Hunter) (K-Mart Exclusive)

The Yakface Toyguide updates resume today with the addition of the K-Mart Exclusive Jodo Kast (Bounty Hunter)

PROS: A major improvement over the first attempt back in 2008. Great detailing on the armor/jumpsuit and the sculpt selection couldn’t have been better.

CONS: None really unless you live in an area without a K-Mart. A bloodied face paint job would have really put this figure over the top. Helmet is a little snug which lends itself to deforming over the head (especially over the nose). Ships with the belt assembled backward but easily correctable if you are an opener.

Head to the toyguide for the full image gallery and to judge for yourself whether this figure is worth adding to your collection.

eFX CV Exclusive: Luke X-Wing Pilot Helmet – Mark Hamill Signature Edition

CW08 Pre Vizsla

The Yakface Toyguide updates resume today with the addition of the Mandalorian Death Watch leader: Pre Vizsla (CW08).

PROS: Awesome figure all around. Primo articulation and sculpt – one of the best figures in the entire Clone Wars line.

CONS: Like many modern day Mandalorian figures, the jetpack doesn’t stay attached very well.

Head to the toyguide for the full image gallery and to judge for yourself whether this figure is worth adding to your collection.

Announcing the Build-A-Droid Galactic Swap Meet at Celebration V

Hasbro will be hosting the Galactic Swap Meet at the Hasbro booth at Celebration V! Bring your surplus Build-a-Droid parts and trade with us, and other fans, as our booth becomes the hub for some serious droid-part-swapping!

We will have a limited supply of complete parts available for 14 of the buildable droids from the Legacy/Droid Factory basic figure line (see attached poster for exact droids we will have). Just bring your extra Legacy/Droid Factory parts and trade them 1-for-1 for parts you need to complete your unfinished droids.

Even if you don’t see the droids for which you need parts on the list, bring what you have anyway….there’s always a chance that another fan will have what you need.

To ensure that as many people as possible can complete their droids, we ask that only 2 Droid pieces be exchanged per person per day.

Updated: Saga Legends (SL12) Obi-Wan Running Change

It looks like Hasbro heard our cries about the initial mold chosen for the Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Saga Legends line. As you may have seen, the first shipments of this figure included a repack of the mold first used in 2003 Saga line as the Outlander Nightclub version. New cases shipping now look to have switched this figure out for the more respectable 2008 TAC mold. No word yet if a similar upgrade to the Jango Fett is in the works.
