Polybag LEGO TIE Fighter at Found at Target

As I was preparing to check out of my local Target this morning I noticed that the the LEGO Republic Attack Cruiser polybag has finally been replaced with the TIE Fighter (8028) Set. This is a simple repack from 2008 features 44 pieces.

UPDATE: Thanks to a tip from Adam Pawlus on Twitter, it looks like this and the MTT and Star Destroyer polybags are also available at Walmart.

TJ Maxx & Marshalls Continue to Deliver

Finding new Star Wars items at the big retailers is hit or miss these days, even so close to Christmas – but stores like TJ Maxx, Marshalls and Five Below continue to stock some treats, and at great prices – today I saw yet another Rebel Transport Speeder at TJ Maxx – and it’s pretty hard to beat the $9.99 price tag.

The pickings may be slim, but don’t give up toy run hope this holiday season, as these discout stores are still getting some great stuff in!

Episode 372: Repair or Repurchase?

Eventually it will happen to all collectibles: they break, yellow, decay, or degrade. The passage of time eventually will cause all collectibles to lose their mint condition. Ask not for who’s collectibles the bell tolls, it tolls for thine. On this week’s Star Wars Action News podcast, Marjorie and Arnie discuss what happened to one of their Star Wars holiday snow globes, and how it changed their entire view of the collecting hobby!

Also this week, several new items have started to ship, including the eFX Collectibles TIE Fighter scaled replica, the Hasbro four-figure 104TH Battalion “Wolf Pack” of figures, and Steve Sansweet’s Ultimate Action Figure Collection book. We discuss each of these releases, with a review of the four figures in Hasbro’s pack and an in-depth look at the latest book from Steve Sansweet detailing every Star Wars action figure released since 1978.

With a discounted Vintage boxed Millennium Falcon, some hard to find mini rig vehicles at retail, and crafty gift ideas, it’s all on this week’s Star Wars Action News podcast!

Toyguide Update: VC103 Obi-Wan Kenobi

The Yakface Toyguide updates resume today with the addition of Obi-Wan Kenobi from the Vintage Collection.

PROS: For fans of The Clone Wars series, but not particularly the action figures due to their design aesthetic, Hasbro retools Obi-Wan’s early look in the series in “realistic” style. The translation works very well here as the all-new figure is faithful to that earlier design while maintaining the real world appearance of the clone armor and features a great portrait of Ewan McGregor as Kenobi. The articulation is solid and the weathered deco is something we’ve missed on many later run Clone Wars figures.

CONS: Honestly, I thought I would like this figure more than I do, but it’s probably not too surprising considering the glut of releases this version had in the animated Clone Wars line. It also feels that we were shorted an accessory or something as he only includes his basic lightsaber and hilt. Like others from this last wave, limited availability coupled with an above MSRP price through online outlets may be the sticking point for some collectors.

Toyguide Update: VC104 Lumat

The Yakface Toyguide updates resume today with the addition of Lumat from the Vintage Collection.

PROS: And another one gets crossed of the “to-be-remade” list. As a big fan of Ewok figures, Hasbro’s latest is quite impressive as it mixes old and new parts to get us a “new” figure. Lumat is loaded with articulation (12 POA), recycling the body from last year’s Logray figure. The weapon accessories for Lumat are all-new designs, the best of which is the bow being able to hold an arrow and the bow string is flexible enough to give the appearance of the arrow being drawn back. It’s a great piece all around.

CONS: Like others from this last wave, limited availability coupled with an above MSRP price through online outlets may be the sticking point for some collectors.
