For Star Wars toy collectors 2012 has been exciting and frustrating in equal measure. Some of the best figures in the history of Star Wars were released, but most collectors had trouble finding them. Astromech fans had a dream come true with Disneyworld offering build-a-droid sets, and the frenzy for parts left many little droids without a third leg or a hat. Taking in all that was Star Wars toy collecting in 2012, Marjorie and Arnie are joined by other collectors reflecting on 2012 in this week’s second part of the Star Wars Action News year in review!
Our friends at Jedi Temple Archives are reporting that 2013 “Yoda” packaging Class I and Class II items have hit TRU in the US and Canada. Head on over for the full details.
Yakface forum members participating in this year’s Secret Santa Christmas Custom Exchange are starting to have some very cool gifts showing up on their doorstep, like the above Mon Calamari medic that DanOfTheDead received from Incom.
I’ve also already received a very cool gift from forum member DarthDaddy.
We’ll have a roundup report of all of the cool customs Yakface forum members made for each other after the holidays, so stay tuned!
The last time I checked, the pickings were slim on Hallmark Star Wars ornaments in my area, but yesterday I noticed a lot of different (non-Hallmark) Star Wars themed ornaments at Target, and they are all priced under $10.00. So you may want to head on down to your local Target if you’re needing a finishing touch or two on your Christmas tree!
As usual we’ve had some amazing custom entries in the latest customizing challenge, which ends December 31. So there’s still time to whip up an entry or two for your chance at some free figures – head on over to the forums for the latest entries, which just might help inspire you if you’re stumped on any ideas for a custom!
At DASH we have a pretty good idea what collectors like, but we can’t make everyone happy with every single contest. So we’ve decided to take the route of grandmas around the world this holiday season and simply give away gift cards. You might think it lacks creativity, but there’s nothing quite like a shiny new gift card underneath a tree, especially when it gives you the control. Welcome to the DASH Community Contest #7, where 10 lucky winners will win a prize that transforms into the toy of their choosing.
It’s been a great year to be a Star Wars fan. The year started with Star Wars once again in theaters as The Phantom Menace kicked off the Star Wars 3-D conversions, the summer ended with a bang at Star Wars Celebration VI, and then the dreams of Star Wars fans worldwide came true when it was announced that there will be more Star Wars films, the first just 3 years away! Looking back at the year that was, listen to Star Wars Action News hosts Marjorie and Arnie are joined by a number of friends and show hosts to look back at what 2012 meant to Star Wars fans.
While doing some Christmas shopping this weekend, I noticed that a ToyZam store had opened at my local mall, and they have assorted TVC figures, ranging from some later waves all the way back to the first wave of TVC.
They are priced a little steep at $11.99, but are on sale at Buy 1 Get 1 50% off – so if you have one of these stores in your area, it might be worth your while to check them out.
Our friends at CollectorsCantina.com are reporting via facebook the find of a couple Star Wars themed banks being offered at Old Navy. The R2-D2 and Darth Vader Money banks are available now and retail for $5.50 each. Great gifts for those kids looking for a place to save their holiday cash from grandma and grandpa.
