Toyguide Update: VC62 Han Solo (In Trench Coat)
The Yakface Toyguide updates resume today with the addition of Han Solo (In Trench Coat) (VC62) from The Vintage Collection.
PROS: Great articulation, paint and the new coat fits well and looks good. Overall a nice improvement of the 2006 version.
CONS: Kind of seems like a wasted slot in the Vintage Collection considering he’s been released on a Vintage card before.
Head to the toyguide for the full image gallery and to judge for yourself whether this figure is worth adding to your collection.
You can also weigh in with your impressions on the figures we add to our toyguide on facebook and in our forums.

2012 Deluxe Figures – $19.99?
Recently our friends at Jedidefender.com brought to our attention that it looks like Hasbro is planning on consumers paying more for their 2012 Star Wars line, and now Toyrus.com is listing the new 2012 Deluxe line for the staggering price of $19.99 – even more staggering when one considers the first wave is nothing but repacks and repaints.
How will even more price increases (especially on items that have been in circulation over and over throughout the years) affect the success of the line? It seems each year more collectors throw in the towel – hopefully we’ll see some pleasant surprises at Toy Fair this February to make us all feel better about it.
NOTE – Forum member combatjedi found these at Wal-Mart already for $16.97, so hopefully that’s a positive sign.
The Vintage Collection Clearances
Following a report by JediTempleArchives.com regarding leftovers of the 2010-2011 pegwarmers from The Vintage Collection being marked down on clearance at Wal-Mart, I came across markdowns as well here in St. Louis.
Markdowns may vary by store (or at all) but it might be worth your while to still keep your eyes peeled for some good deals before the official release date of January 30.

Episode 327: Final 2011, Looking to 2012
In the last episode of our year-end retrospective, Jerry, Jay, Steve, Berent, Arnie, and Marjorie take one last look back at 2011 for Star Wars collector., They look at the generalization of Star Wars merchandise, from the housewares to so more T-Shirts than could be worn at a con. They also discuss the final Robot Chicken Star Wars special and their favorite Star Wars acquisition of 2011.
Then they turn their gaze forward. While “always in motion is future”, the hosts discuss the Hasbro toys revealed for 2012 some of which are appearing on pegs now! They also discuss their hopes for the Star Wars: The Phantom Menace 3-D rerelease and Celebration 6.

UPDATE: Hasbro Nixes Jan 30 Street Date

Our friends at Rebelscum are reporting that Hasbro has lifted the embargo on selling new (2012) merchandise on the Jan. 30 street date so retailers may commence stocking their shelves with product at any time, which is good news considering most toy shelves were decimated over the holidays.
UPDATE: Hasbro has issued a clarification regarding the street date for the new 2012 merchandise. The original January 30 date is still in effect, the only place where it isn’t is in the UK.
