Star Wars Hyperspace Pumpkin!
October 31, 2003 | 6:06 PM EST | Keri
YakReader Chris Helke, who lives in New Carlisle, Ohio and is a member of the Ohio Star Wars Collectors Club has sent in a few pictures of his submission to this years OSWCC pumpkin carving contest.
Chris describes the design as “a Hyperspace theme with the “Before The Helmet” Vader logo on the front and a slightly modified hyperspace “H” logo on the back.”
Here are the pictures below where we may all enjoy Chris’ talented artwork. In the lit picture the modified “H” design glows through to the back wall, looking very cool.
Jango Blasters and ToysRUs Big Book Comments
October 31, 2003 | 1:51 PM EST | Jason
Just wanted to comment for a second on two items of interest.
The Masterreplicas.com Jango Blasters are ready to ship, but some
are probably not aware that they will ship with PERMANENT Orange
inserts in the barrels of the guns. Masterreplicas insist that they
can’t be seen when displayed… but unless you are looking dead
straight at the guns at eye level, you will indeed see them. I’m
saddened by the fact that they could not make the inserts removable
and have cancelled my order. I am protesting the fact that they
have altered a prop replica and made the change permanent. I also
question whether or not this will continue with future blasters they
might make as I will not be buying ANY that have a permanent orange
insert/tip. If you would like to comment or voice your concerns, please send a message to customerservice@masterreplicas.com
I also got an advance copy of the Big Book from ToysRus and for those
speculating that it might have a promotion for the Silver Clone Trooper, you will be disappointed to learn that there are basically NO star Wars items in the book, except for a few Lego items. Just
when will this promotion become available, we will have to wait and
see.
Bounty Hunting Today: Trick or Treat!
October 31, 2003 | 12:40 PM EST | Keri
Happy Halloween everyone! The big day is finally here, the costumes are made and when darkness falls tonite, all the ghosts and goblins may appear for tricks and treats!
Today is a special feature…a bit of a trick as well as a treat (i hope!) Instead of the usual Ebay auctions spotlighting interesting Star Wars items, I have for today a totally unique item!
I personally carve Star Wars themed pumpkins every year, and I have pictures of my latest creation to share with everyone today. Below you may see my interpretation of the slimy gangster himself Jabba the Hutt, both unlit and lit up.
If anyone else has any pictures of Star Wars pumpkins you have carved please send them in to me and I will be more than happy to post them here so that everyone may enjoy these non-fat low-cal Halloween treats!

Included with each figure is a full-sized greeting card featuring a reproduction of the 1980’s Lucasfilm holiday card art by Ralph McQuarrie, the concept artist responsible for much of the look of the originalStar Wars trilogy.
Enjoy! And Happy Holidays from the folks at Paizo.

Bounty Hunting Today: Emperor’s Royal Guard Helmet!
October 30, 2003 | 9:38 PM EST | Keri
Today’s late breaking Bounty Hunting edition is a spotlight close to my heart…and yes I feel I have saved the best for last!
Although it is too close to Halloween to put together a Royal Guard outfit, this wonderful helmet is the start of your own personal journey of elite service to the Emperor himself.
It is unclear as to exactly how many Royal Guards the Emperor had indebted in his service, it could have been as few as 25 or as many as a 100. It is known, however that Royal Guards were the best of the best, cunning and shrewd, showing abilities that far outreached the other Stormtroopers. The Royal Guards stood cloaked in crimson, holding their deadly Force Pikes silently and looked cool as all get out doing it!
The Don Post Royal Guard Helmet featured today was produced in 1996 and must be seen in person to be truly appreciated. The helmet is becoming tougher to find, especially in good condition, and prices are getting higher as a result. If you wish to dress as one of the few, the proud, the Royal Guard the auction below is just what you are looking for!

These items are not yet available on the Master Replicas website but look for them to be “officially” announced over the next couple of weeks.

Bounty Hunting Today: Jar Jar Costume
October 29, 2003 | 12:31 PM EST | Keri
You want this don’t you…Take your Jedi weapon…Strike Jar Jar down with all of your hatred and your journey towards ultimate gratification from every Star Wars fan will be complete!
Ok, so I am not a big fan of Jar Jar Binks, the clumsy Gungan that was introduced to the Star Wars universe in Episode I and had a slimmed down role in Episode II. (thankfully!)
However, some kids did enjoy his bungling nature and clowning around, so having said that, today’s feature is for a child’s complete Jar Jar costume with head mask and suit. I have also included an adult Jar Jar mask made my Don Post if you wish to put together a very quick outfit at a discount price.

Official Photos of Clone Wars Animated Figs!
October 29, 2003 | 11:51 AM EST | Mark B
The official Star Wars website has posted photos of the first wave of Clone Wars Cartoon action figures. As you can see, there is Obi Wan, Anakin, Mace Windu and Asajj Ventress. Wave 2 photos will be coming soon and will include Dooku, Durge, Yoda and a Clone Trooper. Click Here for the full story.
Red ARCTrooper VARIATION Found!
October 29, 2003 | 9:10 AM EST | Jason
I don’t remember reading about this one, but I was actually
looking for the second series of clone wars figures from the
cartoon this morning and ran accross a couple of cases of
the series 1 that had all the Arc Troopers repainted in red.

release and the second.
New ’04 Figure Photos
October 28, 2003 | 6:22 PM EST | Mark B
Star Wars.com has just posted photos of several new figures that will debut in 2004. Probably the most anticipated one is the new Jabba the Hutt from Return of the Jedi!!! There are also 4 new aliens from Jabba’s Palace along with a new Jedi Luke and Lando in Skiff Guard disguise.
WOOHOO!!! The year is complete already! Another Luke Jedi!!!!
Canadian TRU Exclusive?

This item is showing up as an exclusive item retailing for around $45. No details to tell how this is different from the “Red Five” exclusive previously at TRU.
Bounty Hunting Today: Darth Maul Costume!
October 28, 2003 | 1:27 PM EST | Keri
Dressing as a Dark Lord of the Sith is always a great idea for Halloween, or any other time for that matter!
For today’s feature I have chosen the mysterious apprentice of Darth Sidious, Darth Maul. Maul was by far the coolest character of Ep. I, with his horns, rotten teeth, elaborate black and red tattoos, and of course his double-bladed lightsaber. Maul was a Zabrac of few words, but got his point across to Qui-Gon very effectively. Maul was no more than an instrument of evil, carrying out the carefully constructed plans of Sidious.
Today’s auctions are for a complete child’s Maul outfit, including mask, robes, and plastic lightsaber, and an Adult costume without the lightsaber. These are great costumes for anyone looking to dress as the sinister sith apprentice!
Lucasfilm Working On Fixes For ANH?
October 28, 2003 | 8:21 AM EST | Bill
The Force.net is reporting that a copy of Star Wars:A New Hope that was shown at the City of Angels film fest appeared to have been enhanced from the Special Edition version. In this one Obi Wan and Darth Vader’s lightsabers had been significantly enhanced to the quality of image we are used to from the rest of the series. Click here to check out the full story.
New Clone Wars Figures Found!
October 27, 2003 | 10:22 PM EST | Keri
It appears that the newest wave of Clone Wars figures are hitting the shelves as we speak!
YakReader Niko sends in this breaking news on his latest figure run:
I picked up the single carded Durge at the Canton Walmart this afternoon, they also had Mace Windu, Asajj Ventress and Obiwan. I’m not positive, but it looks like Mace’s torso is originally from a Quigon figure, and Obiwan appears to be the Ep2 Obiwan with a few additions (cargo pockets, brown trim).
Anywho, they had 1 more Durge, 2 Asajj, a few of both Obiwan and Mace, as well as a couple of Anakin and 1 Yoda, without an Arc trooper to be seen.
Interesting observations on the Mace Windu and Obi-Wan…if anyone has any pics to substantiate please feel free to send them in so we may unravel this mystery.
Bounty Hunting Today: C-3PO Costume!
October 27, 2003 | 12:54 PM EST | Keri
Friday is fast approaching, meaning Halloween is nearly upon us! I will have costume ideas here for the rest of the week, helping those who have yet to decide what to dress up as.
Today’s feature is for those who secretly wish to be the annoyingly charming ettiquette and protocol droid C-3PO. Little did we know that his maker was young Anakin, aka Vader…but this droid thanks to memory erasing was loyal to the Rebellion. Although we have seen 3PO in many incarnations: without coverings, with dirty mismatched coverings, without an arm, without a leg, blown to pieces, and how could we forget his days as an Ewok deity!!!
Though the costume below is made of soft fabric and not metal coverings, it is still a fun representation of our one and only Goldenrod.
Unproduced CTC2 Supplemental Guide
October 26, 2003 | 3:44 PM EST | Robert
After much rebuilding I finally have completed putting together an updated version of the unproduced second generation of COMMtech chips definitive guide. A big thanks goes to Hunter from the German 4 inches star wars website, as Hunter saved the original article before a server and computer crash lost the originally posted article at theJawa.com website. Thanks also goes out to Steve at theJawa.com for hosting the original article! Look for another update to this article soon as Innis will be adding more information as well. You can check out the updated article by going here.
Another Hint At The Saga On DVD
October 26, 2003 | 1:43 PM EST | Bill
This month’s issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly reports in an aside that one of Lucas Arts latest releases sets up each level with DVD quality shots from the original trilogy! Rebelscum’s report on the article goes on to point out that the article says the this is the closest fans will get to the trilogy on DVD before NEXT FALL!
Bounty Hunting Today: Yoda Costumes!
October 26, 2003 | 11:46 AM EST | Keri
MMmmmm…Wish to dress as Yoda do you? Come to the right place you have, my young Padawans!
Today’s feature is for fully liscened costumes of the dimuntive Jedi Master who could either levitate an X-wing, deflect Sith Lightning or even battle his own Padawan with a lightsaber. Ever since Yoda’s introduction in puppet form in ESB, his teachings have proved to be an integral part of the entire Star Wars Universe.
So, if you are a little short for a Stormtrooper and wish to follow the Light Side of The Force, then the costumes below are just the thing for you! A timeless Halloween favorite, a child dressed as Yoda reminded E.T. of Home…and may help you win a costume contest yourself!
Bid you must, if these costumes before Friday you want!
Yoda Variation Confirmed!
October 26, 2003 | 12:33 AM EST | Jason
I told you back when I reported from San Diego at the
Comic-con that there were two production errors to keep
an eye out for, today I confirmed that one of the errors
has been fixed. The Clone Wars Yoda Lightsaber hilt is
showing up painted fully now. I found the corrected
version at Target. Note that the error hilt that is
painted half way was pretty abundant and was also the version
that showed up in the Value Pack if you are wondering. The
corrected version is shown on the bottom of the picture.

Bounty Hunting Today: Chewbacca Costumes!
October 25, 2003 | 12:34 PM EST | Keri
If you are playing as a Wookie in Star Wars Galaxies, or just can’t get enough of that famous walking piece of carpet, then the Chewbacca costumes featured today should give you your fuzzball fix!
Much like a giant walking dog, the loyal and lovable Wookie Chewbacca from the planet Kashyyk stood tall by Han’s side at all times. The original fur costume worn by Peter Mayhew in the films was made of real yak fur, woven into a suit which was perfectly groomed for the cameras.
Although the costumes below are made from synthetic fur, everyone will still recognize you as the heroic Chewbacca!

Don’t Have Cartoon Network? Not to Fear!
October 25, 2003 | 10:11 AM EST | Mark B
I know there are a lot of people who do not get the Cartoon Network on their cable plans or don’t have cable. Well, up until now, that was the only way you were going to be able to see the new Clone Wars Cartoon. The Official Star Wars Website has just announced that the Clone Wars Cartoon will be available at both cartoonnetwork.com and starwars.com following the broadcast on TV. Hyperspace members will only have to wait about 20 minutes for it to be online, the rest of us will have to wait until the next day. Personally, I’m still hoping for a DVD of the entire series!
Bounty Hunting Bonus: Rare Rocket Firing Fett
October 24, 2003 | 12:25 PM EST | Keri
I have a Bounty Hunting Bonus Auction for all of you loyal readers today. Chances are you may have seen this auction on Ebay, but if you haven’t you are in for a real treat.
Although the word “rare” is overused in high regularity on Ebay, this is an auction where the word Rare is truly necessary.
So without further digression, below is the Holy Grail for Star Wars collectors:
Rare L-Slot Rocket Firing Fett
Bounty Hunting Today: Snowtrooper Costume!
October 24, 2003 | 12:21 PM EST | Keri
Since I have featured just about every costume to help you become a member of the 501st, I couldn’t leave out the Snowtroopers!
Battling on the frozen plains of Hoth, the Snowtroopers’ armor and outfits protect them from the bitter cold of icy planets. Though the armor is light and does not protect well against laser blasts, the heavy coat and helmet do their job warding off the cold.
The auctions I have featured below consist of an entire Snowtrooper outfit, including accurate muckluck boots, or if you are only in need of the duster jumpsuit a high quality fan-made example can be found in the links as well.
New Test Drive Items
October 24, 2003 | 10:44 AM EST | Mark B
I got an email this morning from Master Replicas announcing that they have added 2 new items to their “Test Drive” program. Now you can get the Mace Windu and Obi Wan Kenobi lightsabers on this program. For those that haven’t heard about the Test Drive program – this allows you to “try before you buy”. You get the replica for 30 days and then decide if you want to keep it or not. If you do, you can either pay all at once, or make installment payments (details at website), or send it back and all it costs you is a buck (they have a $1 processing fee). If you haven’t gotten one of the Master Replicas replicas before, this is a great opportunity. These are two of my favorite replicas from them.
Attention Jabba’s Palace Fans
October 23, 2003 | 7:18 PM EST | Bill
No, it’s not the pictures of the Jabba’s Palace figure wave that Hasbro announced will be released later this month, but if you are a member of The Official Site’s Hyperspace section, there’s a particularly nice production still of a certain droid playing electronic slots Click here to go check it out.
Exclusive Darth Vader Bust Arriving
October 23, 2003 | 3:37 PM EST | Mark B
If you are an MBNA Star Wars Credit Card holder that signed up for your credit card during the free Darth Vader Bust promotion, watch your mail! I just got a visit from my friendly postal worker with a much anticipated box! The bust is identical to the original Gentle Giant Darth Vader bust, except the finish. Instead of the solid gloss black, this one is covered with a metallic finish. You can see from the photo of mine, it is almost a copper color. The Edition size on these is 4000 pieces, so even though it is exclusive to MBNA Credit Card holders, it is more common than the original Darth Vader which was an edition of only 2500 pieces if I remember correctly, and much more common than the Comic Con Blue Clone Trooper Bust at 1000 pieces.
Bounty Hunting Today: Vader Costume!
October 23, 2003 | 12:12 PM EST | Keri
Probably the most recognizable villian in screen history, known to just about everyone even if they have never seen any of the Star Wars films (gasp!) is the original man in black Darth Vader.
As with any costume, you may choose how accurate you wish to appear, and therefore dictates how much money you wish to spend. I have included auctions below for a range of pocket books, from inexpensive 1997 Don Post helmets to limited number signed Fiberglass Don Post Helmets and from beautifully fan-made fiberglass armor pieces to liscened polyester material ready made Rubies outfits. The choice is all yours and you may always build a costume well after Halloween, budgeting for each piece necessary for your own ensemble.

Don Post Fiberglass Signed & Numbered Helmet
Vader Fiberglass Chest Armor Pieces
Vader Fiberglass Shin Guard Armor
Bounty Hunting Today: Jedi Costumes!
October 22, 2003 | 6:16 PM EST | Keri
It’s getting ever closer to Halloween…the costume selection is getting picked over at your local stores and it seems as though you will never find the one outfit for this year!
Have no fear ebay is here! Today I have featured some liscened Jedi costumes, one of Qui-Gon Jinn and the other more of an Obi-Wan style outfit with no cloak. Why not be a hero and grab up these great costumes and have them express mailed to you, so you can make a smash at that Halloween party and impress the ladies with your Jedi robes and Lightsaber!

2 New Master Replicas Items
October 22, 2003 | 8:04 AM EST | Mark B
While these have not been “officially” announced by Master Replicas, they are in the new issue of Diamond Comics Previews Magazine (will be in Comic book stores next Wednesday – we’ll have a scan of the photos then!).
First Up – Medal of Yavin Replica – limited to 1500 pieces and retailing for about $100. Replica of the medals given to Han and Luke after the destruction of the first Death Star.
Second – Darth Maul “Battle Worn” Lightsaber Replica – Limited to only 750 pieces. Right before Darth Maul was defeated by Obi Wan, his lightsaber was cut in half. This replica is a recreation of one half of that damaged saber. Comes with Display Case. Retail is going to be around $300.
Both of these items should be announced soon from Master Replicas and are scheduled to ship in February of 2004.
The Final Trilogy???
October 21, 2003 | 8:53 PM EST | Bill
Yep, we all have read the articles from the vintage era about George Lucas saying that he envisioned Star Wars as a trilogy or trilogies— 9 movies, and that he was starting with the middle trilogy. As the prequels began to appear, Lucas said that he would be finished after the original trilogy and the prequel trilogy. Well, it seems that fans wishes and hopes could come true, if one ofThe Force.net’s sources is correct. That’s right, it appears there may be talk of making Episodes 7, 8, and 9. While this is still rumor, if it should prove to be true, Hasbro’s deal extending their exclusive rights to produce Star Wars toys until the twenty-teens, could well have been related to this. IF you want to read all the info Click here.

October 21, 2003 | 11:54 AM EST | Keri
It’s getting very close to Halloween now…do you have your costume ready to go yet, or are you still trying to decide what to choose?
Why not join the Empire as a sleek Biker Scout and stand out from all the Stormtroopers? Seen on the Forest Moon of Endor, the Biker Scouts rode fast and cool looking speeder bikes while on patrol. Their helmets are unique and their armor is light, not cumbersome so they may travel at lightning speeds on the speeder bikes.
Featured below are auctions including a complete armor setup, a modified helmet and a vintage Kenner toy pistol to get you all geared up to hunt down Rebels, Ewoks and avoid hitting large trees!

Bounty Hunting Today: Han Solo Costume!
October 20, 2003 | 1:11 PM EST | Keri
You already have your very own Princess dressed as Leia, and where would the Princess be without her one and only scroundrel?
Featured today in seperate auctions are pieces to put together a not only cool, but movie authentic looking Han Solo ESB outfit. The only thing I could not find on Ebay was the white shirt, but I know there are many fan-made shirts on websites to finish off the outfit, one has only to search the internet to find them easily. The prices so far are very low, but the auctions have just started, and as we who follow Ebay closely know a ton of the bidding is always done in the last few minutes of any auction.
If you are looking for just one item like the boots or blaster to complete your outfit, or close to the whole costume, then the auctions below will get you pointed in the famous smuggler’s direction!

Bounty Hunting Today: Padme Costumes!
October 19, 2003 | 12:26 PM EST | Keri
Today I have chosen to feature costumes of the other dominant female hero of the Star Wars films, Leia’s own mother Padme.
Though Padme wore a virtual cornucopia of outfits in Episode I and especially Episode II, the costume choices are slim and limited to only one key outfit from each movie. The costumes produced are the Theed Invasion Gown, White Jumpsuit Arena Battle, and only in a child’s size, Naboo Meadow Picnic Dress. The costumes are made by Rubies and can be found for great prices.
Nevertheless, if you wish to dress as the strong and willful queen/senator there are some liscened outfits for you to peruse below. I have also included auctions for child sized costumes, for assured trick-or-treating success!
Episode I Queen Amidala Adult Costume
Child’s Padme Naboo Meadow Costume
Bounty Hunting Today: Princess Leia Costumes!
October 18, 2003 | 12:41 PM EST | Keri
For all the women out there who, as little girls thought Leia and her world-famous cinnamon bun hair-do was the coolest thing ever ( i know i did! ), come these Leia costumes!
Though I have never dressed as Leia as an adult ( i had the vinyl costume dress as a girl ) the costumes featured today are rather tempting, even for an Imperial such as myself!
The white costume below comes complete with poly-material dress, wig and belt for a great and affordable price. Also, I have included an auction for just a cinnamon bun wig, if you would prefer to make your own white gown.
You’ll feel like a princess yourself in this great costume and maybe even capture your own scoundrel in the process!

Stay on Target!
October 18, 2003 | 12:16 PM EST | Keri
Even more reports continue to come on regarding the Target exclusives and their ready availability for everyone to get one seemingly easily without the headaches some of us are used to concerning modern collecting.
YakReader Dave who is located in South Florida reports that one Target store in Boynton Beach had 20 A Wings on its shelves!
YakReader Moonbase7 lets us know that there are “four cases at the Target in Monterey, Ca $19.99 all boxes in fairly mint condition.”

Return of the Target A-Wing Update
October 17, 2003 | 2:12 PM EST | Keri
Although collectors are not having much luck online, I have recieved various reports from faithful YakReaders: Xizlo Fett in Riversides, CA – Dave (location unknown) – Matthew in Allen, TX – and Ron in North Port, Fl. all stating that A-Wings are indeed available and in abundant supplies!
All reports indicate that the shelves are full of A-Wings, with more expected to come in when those sell out. YakReader Dave reports that there were about 20 A-Wings at one Target store and another location had an even dozen.
Looks like it’s time to make a Toy Run out to your local Target and pick up the exclusive A-Wing, as they seem to be available from coast to coast in the USA!
Bounty Hunting Today: Fett Costumes!
October 17, 2003 | 2:01 PM EST | Keri
Bounty Hunters are your kind of scum…fearless and inventive. Why not go for the gold…er armor and dress up as a member of the notorious Fett family!
There are many pieces that make up the intricate costume worn by Jango and Boba Fett, but once assembled, you will definetly get noticed quickly at any party or contest. Although there are currently no liscened armor or fully accurate complete costumes, fans have solved that problem by producing all the accessories and armor you need to replicate your bounty hunting idols.
The auctions below range from unpainted armor pieces, jetpacks and leather belts, to fully complete costumes that are must sees and well worth every penny. Again, the prices are not for the faint of pocket book, but nobody said it would be cheap to look so cool!

Bounty Hunting Today: Stormtrooper Costumes!
October 16, 2003 | 12:04 PM EST | Keri
Have you got what it takes to be a part of the Empire’s own shock troops, serving Vader and the Emperor faithfully, proudly wearing your white armor which will not shield you from any blaster in the galaxy? Well, if you want to be a part of the 501st, and look cool doing it then a Stormtrooper costume replica is just the thing for you!
If you’re looking to keep your costume, that is the helmet, armor, and accessories like blasters and monoculars down to a specific budget, then the auctions featured today probably are not for you. It is not a cheap endeavor to put together a replica Stormtrooper costume, but if it is what you truly want to dress up as, the compliments and looks are well worth any money it might cost to purchase.
The auctions below spotlight fan made armor and suits and allow you to choose between the well-worn Sandtrooper, or the shiny white Stormtrooper stationed on the Death Star.

12″ Ploo Update
October 15, 2003 | 7:23 PM EST | Bill
Yak Reader Womprat sent in this report:
“I called hasbro today and inquired about the availablilty of the 12″ Plo Koon and the person on the line told me Plo was listed as still being in production. He also said that may not mean he’s being produced right now but is scheduled for further production and it should be a signifigant. He says production may be stopped but as long as it isn”t listed as cancelled the product will be produced again or continued whichever way you want to look at it. Anyway, stop bidding on those Plo Koons people I see people paying way too much for them. I am in the process of e-mailing Hasbro (but the site gives me the run around) to get the same answer in writing.”
UPDATE: Yak Reader Dgerbing received an answer from Hasbro 180 degrees reversed:
“I personally spoke with the sales department manager at Hasbro, this was around a month ago and she stated no more Plo Koons. Reason I was able to talk with someone higher up, I stated I was a small store trying to start up and spoke with her about opening an account. Thanks, just wanted to give you a heads up.”
When we receive more information we’ll bring it to you.

Bounty Hunting Today: Don Post Creature Masks
October 15, 2003 | 1:20 PM EST | Keri
If you’re still trying to decide what to be for Halloween, then keep your eyes peeled to my Bounty Hunting posts everyday! I will be featuring some type of costume, mask, or something Halloween related to get you in the spirit, and hopefully give you some ideas and pointers on where to start that great costume.
Today I have chosen a small group of over the head Don Post Latex Creature Masks. Don Post held the liscence for Star Wars masks since A New Hope in 1978, up until the late 90’s when the company was bought out. In fact, many of the Rubies masks being produced today use the old Don Post molds, so in a way the company’s legacy lives on.
The creatures I have chosen today are off the beaten path of most costume choices. There are no Vaders or Stormtroopers here, just some great cretures to make you stand out in a crowd of vampires and witches.
Why not dare to be different and dress up as an Ugnaught, a Gamorrean Guard, or a Bith Cantina Band Member like Figrin D’An or Nien Numb? These masks are a great start to that different costume choice and with some simple jumpsuits and tunics, you are well on your way to winning that costume party 1st Prize and the adoration of your friends and family!
Even if you just desire these masks for great displays with fully costumed mannequins, check out the auctions below to enjoy their realistic appearance and bargain prices!

Bounty Hunting Today: Costume Patterns!
October 14, 2003 | 12:21 PM EST | Keri
Halloween is almost here, and in honor of this great holiday I will be featuring a theme-appropriate auction to get you all in the spirit and hopefully help give you some costume ideas as well!
Although today’s items may not fit you, if you have a child or simply wish to collect these awesome vintage patterns, you’ve come to the right place!
Made by McCalls in 1981, these costume patterns allowed mothers everywhere to handmake Halloween outfits of their child’s favorite Star Wars characters. The patterns were mainly ESB themed characters including Leia, Chewie, Yoda, Vader, and a Jawa. Though the picture on the front is straight out of the 80s, the costume designs are timeless and would make any child stand out today in a great way!
Here are the patterns below to get your costumes started!
Hasbro Never Told You What Happened To…..
October 14, 2003 | 11:34 AM EST | Robert
One of the questions modern prototype collectors ask me is what toy concepts and prototypes do you know about that didn’t get made. While I only know of some of the concept items I recently asked a creator of some of the modern era Star Wars toys if they would answer some questions, which they were happy to do. You can read about some modern stuff that didn’t get made by going here
Lord Vader’s Secret Plan – Nov. 5, 2003–Links Updated
October 14, 2003 | 8:43 AM EST | Bill
Just because I am the “Q&A guy”, it doesn’t mean that I can’t do news.
A few days ago, my friend Scott dropped me a note. Besides sharing the “Star Wars freak” label, my pal also shares a fondness of things Vader and knew I would appreciate this one.
Scott works at a place (that shall remain nameless) that sometimes gets cool Star Wars perks and this might be the coolest. Apparently, Lucasfilm is holding an event at the Presidio on November 5th and they sent out invitations to companies that they have done business with. His boss, knowing that he was a Star Wars fan, was gracious enough to just GIVE him the invitation and this isn’t your normal paper invitation. It’s a Saga Throne Room Vader glued to a glossy black acrylic block with a brushed metal plate attached which reads:
“LORD VADER IS PLANNING A MAJOR ASSAULT.
HE SUMMONS YOU TO SHARE HIS TOP SECRET
BATTLE PLANS.
WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 5, 2003
THE OFFICERS’ CLUB
AT THE PRESIDIO
SAN FRANCISCO, CA
LIGHTSABERS AND BLASTERS MUST BE CHECKED AT THE DOOR.
MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU”
This raises a big question: What assault does Lucasfilm have planned here? It seems a tad early to reveal marketing plans for Episode 3, which is still 1.5 years away. Could this event be tied to the recent rumors about the Original Trilogy coming to DVD???
We’ll have to wait until 11/5 to find out but you can see the invitation and plaque by clicking on these links:
Big thanks to Scott for sharing his news with us!

A Blast From The Past About The Future
October 13, 2003 | 8:11 PM EST | Bill
Yak Face Alum Jimmy (AKA Sidster) sent in a major report on the 2004 line. No matter how you look at it, 2004 is looking like a great year for Star Wars Collectors:
Here’s his report on what we may see in 2004:
Ships:
Cloud Car
It’s still on tap as an exclusive– it just needs a retailer to pick it up.
X-Wing/Y-Wing
These will be different colors from their POTF2 incarnations. If what I’ve heard is true, we might see a Y-Wing that can hold an astromech like the vintage version. If that happens, look to see a Y-Wing with 2 pack in figures– pilot and R2 unit.
The X-Wing will be another big one– like the TRU Saga edition. It will also hold an R2, but no word on pack-ins (if any) yet.
Basic Figures:
First, it looks like the second of the canceled CD-rom figures will finally be released. Last year we got the super articulated Luke Bespin, in 04, we should see the Darth Vader from the Bespin Dinner scene.
In addition to the Jabba’s Palace figures that have been announced, a Cantina wave is under consideration. Possible figures include Hem Dazon and Banniss Keeg (which have been on rumor lists for some time) and new entries–Bom Vindim, Gotal, and the Givin.– Oh and if the second wave of Cantina sections sell well we may finally see the “U” shaped end piece.
There will also be a new Jawa this year, but no word on how it will ship.
It also appears that Hermie Odle and a new Bib Fortuna could appear, but no word on when, or what type of packaging/release.
Multi-Packs:
Toys R Us Exclusives:
We could see 4 sets next year, but the current ones will have to sell well for these to materialize.
Screen Scenes are being considered for more releases, again the sales of the current wave will determine if we see more of them.
We may also see more Fan Club Exclusives
Army Builders:
Hasbro is still looking at producing more army builder three packs. The sales so far this year look good, so hopefully we will see even more entries in this line.
More Clone Wars Figures This Year

Bounty Hunting Today: It’s All Sugar Free!
October 13, 2003 | 12:32 PM EST | Keri
Yes, you read right kiddies, no sugar today, but I promise it’s still a treat for all!
At the request of Mr. George Lucas, a diabetic himself, Topps produced Sugar Free gum with its own distinct trading cards and movie photos. The Sugar Free gum with movie photo wrappers were available only in certain regions as a test and are therefore tougher to find than the regular sugar gum that was for sale everywhere.
Even if you don’t collect trading cards or wrappers, the Sugar Free packaging and cards offer eye-catching photos and graphics that may tempt you to add to your collection today!
Here are two auctions below to get your mouth watering for some sugar free goodness!

Vergere Revealed
October 12, 2003 | 8:48 PM EST | Bill

The new update has nearly 40 new avitars, one of which is the first time an image has appeared for a significant EU characters, Vergere. Vergere has appeared in EU from just after the Phantom Menace, upto a major role in the New Jedi Order!Click here to check it out!

Bounty Hunting Today: Candy Heads!
October 12, 2003 | 12:41 PM EST | Keri
How cool would it be to receive a Star Wars candy head as a treat on Halloween!? Well, nobody is stopping you from treating yourself to some of the vintage Topps candy head goodness that awaits you in today’s feature!
Topps produced the main bulk of Star Wars trading cards and stickers throughout the 1970s-80s and still produces wonderful card sets today for the Prequels as well as the Classic Trilogy. Topps also produced plastic candy heads, molded in the shapes of memorable Star Wars characters. The boxes featured colorful photos and the candy heads were molded in one color plastic to resemble heroes, villians and creatures from ESB and ROTJ. The candy heads look great with displays, especially the Bounty Hunters. However, I would not recommend eating the 20+ year old candy/dust if still inside.
In the mid 1990s Topps was back in the Star Wars candy head business for a short time once again. This time in England, fans not only received a candy head, but a collectible trading card as well. Only 4 designs were produced: Chewie, Yoda, Vader and 3PO. The heads are still molded in one color plastic, but the characters are a bit more realistic than the 1980s counterparts.
The auctions listed below provide a sampling of both vintage and modern candy heads you can treat yourself to!

Bounty Hunting Today: Cookie Jars
October 11, 2003 | 12:09 PM EST | Keri
Since you have all those yummy Star Wars cookies, now you need a place to keep them nice and fresh, which brings about today’s feature Cookie Jars!
Star Wars cookie jars have been sold since A New Hope in 1978, courtesy of Roman Ceramics. The classic designs offered included C-3PO and R2-D2 only. Sigma produced only one design that was a hexagonal shape featuring Vader on one side and R2 and 3PO on the other side. The vintage cookie jars are getting harder to find, especially in mint condition with no chips or cracks, complete with the plastic liner inside. Therefore the prices are not necessarily for an entry-level collector.
A bit more affordable are the Star Jars cookie jars which produced classic character designs in limited numbers in the mid 1990s. Though the jars originally retailed for over $250, today some characters can be found for $30 and under. Patience can truly be a virtue and a huge money savings in regards to Modern Star Wars collecting today.
Here is a sampling of auctions below of both vintage and modern jars to help keep your cookies staying fresh and your kitchen looking cool!

Apparently, there was a class action lawsuit against them and so they have to give you a 30% discount off a $30+ purchase from October 8-14th of 2003.
Defendants will distribute the Net Settlement Fund by providing a discount at the cash registers of all KB Toys, KB Toy Works, KB Toy Outlet, Toy Liquidator and KB Toys Express stores nationwide, including Guam and Puerto Rico, equal to 30% off all qualifying purchases of $30 or more during October 8-14, 2003. This distribution (the “In-store Distribution”) will be done without requiring a request of any store customer and will be separate and apart from, and in addition to, any previously planned promotional events for 2003. Defendants will not advertise or otherwise promote the distribution in advance of the In-store Distribution. Signs detailing the terms of the In-store Distribution, however, may be displayed in or around the stores during the In-store Distribution and up to 48 hours in advance of the In-store Distribution.
The 30% off is available in physical stores only! The discount however is not applicable to video game software or hardware in stores. This is still a great opporuntity to get a discount on some higher priced items that normally do not go on sale, such as Lego Items.
Bounty Hunting Today: Cookies!
October 10, 2003 | 12:30 PM EST | Keri
With Halloween fast approaching, today’s feature will concentrate on Treats, rather than Tricks, although I doubt you would want to eat these cookies since they are 20 years old!
Pepperidge Farm treated fans of Return of the Jedi to 3 different flavor cookies, including Chocolate, Vanilla and Peanut Butter back in 1983. The cookies tasted much better than the C-3POs Cereal (trust me here) and not only that each flavor had its own unique character shapes. Pepperidge Farm sweetened the deal and offered small plastic cups with a cookie purchase, as well as a mail-away offer for the complete set of cups.
The auctions spotlighted today feature Sealed Boxes of cookies, which is quite unusual, as 90% of most boxes found today are empty. If you are a true completist searching for unopened boxes, then your search is over. Also you may view the in-store promo cup, as well as a lot containing 2 of the 4 mail-away cups.
Here are the Treats to get your cookie collection underway!

LucasArts President Abruptly Resigns
October 10, 2003 | 11:47 AM EST | Mark
Simon Jeffery quits the company in a surprise announcement.
October 09, 2003 – LucasArts reported today that Simon Jeffery has resigned from his position of President of the company. Very little is known about his reasons at this time, though it does appear as though his announcement came as a surprise.
As President of LucasArts, Jeffery oversaw releases of such high-profile titles as Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and Star Wars Galaxies.
When contacted, LucasArts declined comment.

Special Edition Back on the Big Screen!
October 9, 2003 | 5:45 PM EST | Keri
If you live in the LA area, or anywhere near there you may view George Lucas’ Special Edition version of A New Hope.
Unfortunately, at Ain’t It Cool News, they are reporting that is the Original version of A New Hope. However when you visit the link below for tickets, it clearly states that viewers will be treated to the Special Edition Version, where a digitally altered Greedo fires a shot at Han…when we all know that Han really shot first.
The movie will be screening at the Directors Guild on Sunday, Oct. 26 and is part of the City of the Angels Film Festival. You can buy tickets on their website.

Bounty Hunting Today: Necklaces!
October 9, 2003 | 12:29 PM EST | Keri
In keeping with the jewelry theme of yesterday’s feature, today I will be looking at necklaces, more specifically the pendants of Star Wars characters.
As with the rings, Weingeroff Enterprises produced unique pendants for A New Hope. The designs included Chewie, Vader’s Head, X-Wing, Stormtrooper Head, C-3PO, and R2-D2. The pendants could be bought in large or small sizes and 3-PO’s and Chewie’s arms move together up and down. The necklaces were sold in bags with the classic logo on them, and also came with a paper tag attached on the necklace itself, giving some detailed information regarding the specific character. Collectors looking for a complete necklace should search for the sometimes elusive bag and paper tag.
The ESB necklaces were again produced by W. Berrie, and were sold in blue cardboard window boxes, with the ESB logo on them. The designs were colorful enamel like the rings and featured Chewie, R2, R2 and 3PO, and Vader.
All of these necklaces listed below are a great way to add a little Star Wars flair to your otherwise drab work uniform during the week!

A Working Title?
October 8, 2003 | 9:50 PM EST | Mark B
The Force.Net currently has a rumor about the possibility of a working title about Star Wars Episode III. You have been warned that spoilers may exist, so don’t click through if you don’t want to know. But, those of you that know the original title for Return of the Jedi will understand how this title could come about.

Bounty Hunting Today: Rings
October 8, 2003 | 12:11 PM EST | Keri
There are many choices when it comes to which Star Wars jewelry – such as rings, necklaces, bracelets and earrings. Although mainly targeted at the female Star Wars audience, who’s to say that a stylin guy can’t wear a hip old school adjustable ring and turn his finger green too?!
Today’s feature is devoted to vintage Star Wars rings. In 1977 for A New Hope the rings were produced by Weingeroff Enterprises and 2 sets of 3 designs you could buy, 1 Rebel Set – Chewie, R2, and C-3PO and the other set had Vader, Stormtrooper, and X-Wing. These rings are frequently found by themselves as single items without the original box, mainly bought for display purposes or to be worn.
W. Berrie & Co. held the liscence for all the ESB jewelry, and the rings they produced were quite distinct, as well as very colorful. The designs included: Vader, X-Wing, May the Force be with You, R2 & 3PO, R2, and Yoda. The rings come in blue boxes with the prominent ESB logo behind them. These rings have not only a great deal of charm, but also look awesome to wear!
Here are some auctions below to start your jewelry collection today!
Vader and Skywalker Almost Sold Out
October 8, 2003 | 11:20 AM EST | Mark B
I’ve been checking Master Replicas every day watching for the new Thermal Detonator to go on sale and noticed today that the Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader (ESB) lightsabers are nearly sold out. Don’t wait if you have been holding off ordering these items. And to make it even better, both are on sale for only $199.96! That’s $150 off the list price. ***Note, the price on the website still shows the list price, but when you add them to your basket, the sale price shows up*** Head on over to Master Replicas today and pick them up before they are gone.
UPDATE!! – Robert C. sends this in “If you pay in full rather than making the 4 installment payments, for the ESB lightsabers, you get another $25 off, making the total only $174.96”. Also note, this is for the Lightsaber Replicas, not the FX lightsabers.

Doug Chiang Appearance in San Fransisco
October 7, 2003 | 2:51 PM EST | Keri
YakReader and member of the South Bay Star Wars Fan Club Mikk sent in this information for anyone in the San Fransisco/Bay Area that would like to meet Star Wars Prequel conceptual artist/designer Doug Chiang.
“Doug Chiang will be appearing at the Metreon Festival of Anime on
October 11th in San Francisco promoting his new book Robota.
Mr. Chiang will be speaking from 3 to 4pm in the Action Theater at
Metreon about his creative process, art techniques and training. There will also be a special screening of the animated Robota teaser. Afterwards he will sign books for an hour at the Chronicle Books store in the Metreon complex.
The Metreon is located at 101 Fourth St. in downtown San Francisco.
Tickets to the Metreon Festival of Anime are $15 and can be purchased online at www.acteva.com/go/metreon
Should be a great opportunity to get a look “behind the scenes” of an
extremely talented & influential artist. Hope everyone can make it out.”
Bounty Hunting Today: Foreign Plush Items
October 7, 2003 | 2:42 PM EST | Keri
Today I would like to spotlight some obscure Plush dolls and a plush backpack from countries overseas.
Here in the US, Kenner was the one and only source for plush Star Wars dolls, the most prolific being the Ewoks from ROTJ. Also offered was a Chewie and R2 that squeaked. The Buddies line debuted during the height of Beanie Baby mania, and once again was brought to us by Hasbro. For the collector looking for alternative plush Star Wars items, there are many foreign examples that are fun and unusual.
Starting with Japan, there are the Super-Deformed Plush toys that were available only in arcade machines called UFO’s in 1992. UFO machines are like the dragline/claw machines we have here, but the UFO’s have a 2 pronged hook, rather than a 3 pronged claw making it tougher to grab an item. Therefore, the Star Wars UFO Plush dolls are collectible not only here, but in Japan as well. There are 5 dolls in the set, including Vader, Chewie, R2, 3PO, and Luke.
More recently, there were several plush backpacks, or rucksacks produced in England which are large and pretty realistic representations of popular characters. The backpack designs included Chewie and Yoda, and possibly more that I am not aware of at this time. The backpacks are really unusual and great for a collector specializing in one character items.
The auctions below offer a look at each plush to help you start a new area of collecting!
Original Trilogy On DVD News Update…
October 7, 2003 | 10:47 AM EST | Jair
Yak Reader Ronnie sent this to follow up on the DVD article:
“I heard the same story on the dvds about a week ago at The Digital Bits(without any toy references) and they basicly said the rumor is that Fox and Lucasfilm liked so much the layout of the upcoming Indiana Jones trilogy on dvd (1 disc for each movie, then one disc full of extras from all 3 movies) that they would do the same next Oct/Nov for the Star Wars trilogy. No word yet on whether these would be the originals or the special editions. I’m personally hoping for the originals myself, that way George can release his Ultimate special editions after ep. 3. Just my speculation!”
So maybe after all we’ll have the original movies on DVD next year. Ronnie has a good point beacuse almost everyone whats the two versions of the movies, and this would be a good way of offering fans the chance.

Original Trilogy On DVD News…
October 6, 2003 | 4:28 PM EST | Jair
Here is something I was waiting to get more information about before I posted it, but haven’t, so here it is. A very good source told a friend of mine at Yavin IVthat in order to get toys for next year, suppliers and stores will have to order them with a bit more time in advance. The reason: the Star Wars Trilogy will finally be released on DVD, and with it, tons and tons of toys.
Now, this is not 100% confirmed, so don’t get your hopes too high. Remember that the official word is that it will be released after the prequels are done, but you never know… maybe by this time next year we’ll be enjoying our favorite films on DVD format.
Bounty Hunting Today: Telephones
October 6, 2003 | 3:31 PM EST | Keri
A Star Wars telephone not only looks great with your killer collection, but also allows you to cheerfully greet a friend or family member with a Force-ful character!
The only phone produced in the original trilogy days was in 1983 by Com-dial, which was an imposing full-figure Vader Speaker Telephone. The phone can still be found in working order today, sometimes even with the original box and instructions. The phone is a great likeness of our favorite Sith Lord, and is convenient for hands-free operation, or to be displayed anywhere.
As far as modern Star Wars phones go, an R2-D2 telephone was produced in the late 90’s by Telemania. The phone has many features, such as R2’s dome lights light up, his head turns as the phone rings and he can also be set to ring in familiar droid beeping. This phone really has it all, and the chirping and beeping is music to a fan’s ears!
Each phone is featured in an auction below to get your collection ringing!

Bounty Hunting Today: Iron Ons!
October 5, 2003 | 11:47 PM EST | Keri
Along with your courdoroy bell bottom pants and your Star Wars belt buckle, no outfit is complete without your very own Star Wars Iron On T shirt!
Part of the fabric of the 1970s and early 1980s were Iron-on T-Shirt Shops, which usually featured Iron on transfer designs of everything you could possibly imagine and more pasted on the walls from floor to ceiling! ( at least the shop I remember going to!)
Star Wars themed designs were no exception, featuring an extensive selection of characters, artwork, with and without glitter accents. The vinyl transfers were on heavy waxy paper, and they were pressed with very high heat onto your t-shirt, then the paper was allowed to cool, and the vinyl transfer was left on your shirt.
Factors Inc. held the liscence for all of the Original Trilogy designs, which range vastly, from Han & Chewie, to Boba Fett, and Lando, Yoda, Luke, Jawas, and even Ugnaughts. The Iron-ons can be found fairly easily today, and some existing T-shirt shops can iron them on to brand new t-shirts for you to enjoy the now popular retro stylings of the 70s & 80s.
Below are some auctions to satisfy your need for Star Wars Iron-ons in your life!
The Winner Is…

Bounty Hunting Today: Belt Buckles!
October 4, 2003 | 12:21 PM EST | Keri
Star Wars belt buckles have been with us, just as the Force has been with us, since 1977. Among the some of the earliest liscened and unliscened items available, there was not a more stylish way to hold up your courdoroy bell bottom pants!
The first belt buckles were produced by The LeatherShop Inc. and were heavy brass with really gorgeous, bold raised 3-D designs, including the Star Wars Logo, 3PO & R2, R2 by himself, Vader, and a TIE chasing an X-Wing with a stylized McQuarrie Logo beneath.
Also in 1977, apparently without a liscence, Basic Tool & Supply Co. produced virtual duplicates of the Leathershop buckles. The Basic Tool buckles are marked on the back, and there are slight differences between those and the Leathershop buckles. The Leathershop buckles have a more dull, flat finish, while the Basic Tool buckles are polished and shiny. The Basic Tool Buckles also tend to be a bit smoother, with the details sharper and clearer than the Leathershop buckles.
Lee also had a liscence for A New Hope, ESB and continued through with Jedi themed belts with buckles. Most of the Lee buckles found today are seperated from their original belts, and collectors looking for complete examples should keep this in mind when purchasing loose buckles. There are countless variations of Lee buckle designs, with different color enamel backgrounds for each character as well as nylon and leather belts.
The small sampling below offers an illustration of the differences between Leathershop & Basic Tool buckles, as well as some Lee ESB offerings.
New Legos!
October 4, 2003 | 11:50 AM EST | Keri
Yak Reader TCJedi sent in the following links to pics of the new Lego items we have to look forward to in January from the Toys News International website:
It appears that the new Mini Vehicles will not have a speicified bonus vehicle to be built from the spare parts in each package…builders will instead be required to use The Force and create their own design.
The new tatooine sets look great, including a new Landspeeder, Sandtrooper on a dewback and the cantina showdown between Greedo and Han. Lego continues to produce wonderful products for everyone, kids and adults alike to enjoy and build.
Bounty Hunting Friday: Plastic Banks
October 4, 2003 | 11:41 AM EST | Keri
After a slight weapons malfunction, as well as a large reactor leak that was very dangerous was locked down Friday, I once again have access to my computer and bring you all a belated Bounty Hunting Edition for Friday Oct. 3rd.
Continuing on with the theme of Star Wars banks, the auctions below feature interesting and harder to find examples of vintage plastic banks. Though not as common, nor as well known as the ceramic counterparts, the plastic banks provide an unbreakable alternative to the collector who also searches out overseas/foreign Star Wars items.
From the land down under, Austrailia, we have two vintage plastic banks that were given out from the Commonwealth Savings Bank of Sydney. A Darth Vader head/bust, and R2 in white, light blue and dark blue were given to children in 1978, encouraging them to save their money wisely. The designs may be slightly crude to today’s collector of modern, detailed movie prop accurate items, but these banks are great items in their own right!

If you cannot get online immediately please rest assured that there are many Holiday Yoda figures in stock – more than enough for all current Lightspeed Pass holders, even if everyone orders the maximum of three figures per person.

The Lightspeed Pass system should help you order your Holiday Yoda figures with less hassle, and help us better manage the traffic to our website.
Heres the intended schedule:
Lightspeed Pass holders will receive invitations over a two week period in mid to late October. Active subscribers may order the figure any time after receiving their invitation.
Fear not! There are lots and lots of Holiday Yoda figures for our members, so dont fret if you are not in one of the first batches invited to order.
Active subscribers who did not sign-up for Lightspeed Passes will be able to order starting near the end of October.
Lightspeed Pass holders without a currently active subscription toStar Wars Insider will be able to order starting in early November, provided there are Holiday Yoda figures left in stock.
Here’s how you can get ready:
If you have a currently active subscription to Star Wars Insider then we may need you to associate your subscription with your online account if you havent already. To do this, sign in at http://starwars.paizo.com/mysubs

Bounty Hunting Today: Ceramic Banks
October 2, 2003 | 1:22 PM EST | Keri
Looking for a place to store your pennies, or perhaps even your Jedi Master points? Well, if its a ceramic Star Wars bank you desire, then you’ve come to the right place!
The first banks produced were ceramic 3-D figural representations of C-3PO, R2-D2, and Vader made by Roman Ceramics in 1978. These wonderful banks are large, detailed and look phenomonal on a bookshelf. They are getting more difficult to find in undamaged condition, with the rubber stopper in the bottom, and of course complete with the original plain cardboard printed box.
Sigma Industries also produced many ceramic items for ROTJ, such as cups, frames, music boxes, and also banks. Among the Sigma banks available are Yoda, Chewie, Jabba the Hutt, and a rare full figure anodized silver Vader. Again, the primary concern with these banks is damage and repair, as well as finding an example with the original paper tag and box.
There are also many fan-made unliscened ceramic banks on the market today. While these banks are not listed in any official price guides, they hold a certain charm and provide something unique for a special display, which is unique to a particular collection.

A Call For Sanity

Anyone who has logged into the Hasbro Auction site in the last couple of hours as seen the bids for all the items available go from high to impossibly obscene. While many of us may not have had the foresight to save the points from figures, playsets, and ships since the E1 line started, some did, and I applaud their foresight (if they choose to open their toys). However those with foresight, and/or those who army build could have easily amassed 10,000 points or even double that.
With that said, whether you’ve been saving points since day one, or just started, there is no possible excuse for what we have seen on the Hasbro Auction site in the last few hours. While I would have liked to see another concept chosen for the Jedi Master Points, I urge all collectors to keep up the reputation of our hobby. The bidding of truely impossible numbers of points– millions, tens of millions, hundreds of millions, even hundreds of billions and hundreds of trillions of points is inexcuasable. Do not give Hasbro and others a negative view of collectors with your conduct.
If you have the points, by all means bid them, and good luck in the auctions, if you do not have the points, then please do not give the hobby a black eye, trying to make a mockery of this promotion and ruin it for your fellow collectors.
Short Stories Collection
October 1, 2003 | 9:23 PM EST | Keri
New from the official site comes Star Wars: Short Stories Collection which can be downloaded in PDF form. The short stories written by Expanded Universe favorites Timothy Zahn, Jude Watson, and Matthew Stover were only available in booklet form and could be found in Clone Wars lightsabers and vehicles. The booklet was also a give-away item at the Hasbro booth at San Diego Comic-Con and Wizard World Chicago.
For those of you who either do not open your toys, or did not get the booklet by attending the 2 Cons, this is a great read from some very talented authors.

More Info on MR Thermal Detonator
October 1, 2003 | 4:56 PM EST | Mark B
Well, it hasn’t officially been announced by Master Replicas yet, but I’m finding out some additional information about the new Thermal Detonator (that should be announced any day now). There are actually going to be 3 (yep, count ’em THREE) different versions of this new prop replica. The regular edition (identical to the movie prop) is going to be limited to 1000 pieces worldwide, and in the tradition of Obi-Wan’s Episode IV saber, there will be an edition of 750 pieces of “As Built By”, and finally an edition of 750 pieces of a signature edition which will be signed by Carrie Fisher!
In addition – the prop is actually going to be die cast (rather than the lightweight material used in the Jedi Remote), it will have digital sound effects from Skywalker Sound, and finally flashing lights to duplicate the effects from Return of the Jedi. This is going to be one COOL replica – and the basic version is going to sell for around $200! Watch for the “official” announcement here soon!

Bounty Hunting Today: Toothbrushes!
October 1, 2003 | 12:41 PM EST | Keri
After eating the Darth Vader cake, and topping it off with Chewie chocolates, its time to be a good Jedi and brush your teeth!
Star Wars toothbrushes were among the earliest items available, encouraging children to keep their teeth clean and healthy with their heroes from a galaxy far, far away.
Kenner produced the first motorized toothbrush in 1977 for A New Hope, which came on a large card in a blister. The toothbrush resembled a lightsaber hilt and had artwork of all the main characters inside the plastic housing of the handle. Kenner followed up with the same toothbrush, but with different designs inside for ESB, ROTJ ( a JCPenney catalog exclusive ) and Wicket from the Ewoks cartoon.
Also for ROTJ Oral-B introduced inexpensive toothbrushes which could be bought at Target, or any local grocery store. The packaging was brightly colored and featured great depictions of new and familiar characters. The designs included Vader, Luke Jedi outfit, Leia ewok outfit, Chewie and Han, R2 and 3PO, and Paploo and Wicket. Also available in a special 3 pack was a Jedi Masters toothbrush featuring Obi-Wan, Anakin, and Yoda all in spirit form. The Jedi Masters is by far the most difficult toothbrush to find.
Colgate has held the modern liscence today, and has produced classic images as well as Ep.I toothbrushes and toothpaste. There are many, many designs to choose from, both in the US and overseas.
The auctions spotlighted today allow to you to view both the classic vintage Kenner & Oral-B, as well as modern items that are equally interesting.

The newly designed speeder appears to come with the same minifigs as the original set; Luke and Dak are listed and I’m trying to verify the Hoth Trooper.
4501 Mos Eisley Cantina

The cantina itself is nothing more than the alcove where the Rodian meets his fate; set includes Luke, Ben, Han, Greedo and a Sandtrooper. But that’s not what gets you excited over this set – there’s a dewback that ROCKS . . .
and a newly designed Landspeeder in here too . . .
