David Benioff and D.B. Weiss are going from Winterfell to a galaxy far, far away.
It was announced today that Benioff and Weiss, creators of the smash-hit, Emmy Award-winning television series Game of Thrones, will write and produce a new series of Star Wars films.
These new films will be separate from both the episodic Skywalker saga and the recently-announced trilogy being developed by Rian Johnson, writer-director of Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
While shopping today at a local grocery chain (Cub Foods) I noticed an official Super Bowl LII pin with the Star Wars logo and lightsabers on it. This is the second lapel pin that has been found, the first was an R2-D2 pin posted via Reddit and was available at the Mall of America Super Bowl store. Could there be a reason for such a marketing partnership? A trailer for an upcoming film perhaps? We shall see.
Our friends at JediDefender reported finding this back on Jan 7.
This morning, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences released the nominees for this year’s 90th Academy Awards and Star Wars: The Last Jedi gathered 4 nominations:
Best Visual Effects
Best Original Score
Best Sound Mixing
Best Sound Editing
Congratulations to Disney, Lucasfilm, ILM, Skywalker Sound and John Williams for their achievement.

According to Deadline.com, Disney XD will air back-to-back 30-minute episodes on February 19 and 26, culminating with another new half-hour and the 90-minute series finale on March 5.
On this episode of The Cargo Hold – A Star Wars Collecting Podcast, Jayson, Corey, and Chris discuss their favorite Star Wars merchandise of 2017 and what to expect in 2018.
In what should not be a surprise to many, Walmart stores are starting to clearance the Forces of Destiny line as part of their “post-Christmas” clearance binge. Check your local store if you were looking to acquire these.
Personal Note: I thought this line was doomed as soon as it was announced. And I rarely see anyone pay attention to them in the stores (I do casually observe other customers). This felt like a “forced niche” item that Disney pushed, and I would feel this line has fallen short of retailer expectations to this point. For those that do like it, or have children that enjoy these, I hope the line continues for years to come. But I personally can’t see it having legs for an extended time; unless it’s marketed better and perhaps the product moved to the store section the audience these are targeted at frequent most.
A Reddit user posted a photo of the first teaser poster for Solo: A Star Wars Story on display at his theater. It’s only a matter of time before we get our first teaser.
