Don’t you wish Hasbro was cool like this?

Boutros77

Today’s big reveal with the repacked 6″ scale Han and Greedo with a  flimsy cardboard diorama just illustrates for so many of us, how out of touch Hasbro is with the market.  We don’t care about cheap cardboard settings for figures, and we sure as heck aren’t looking to spend our money on repacks of pegwarmers just for the sake of different packaging.

For a refreshing look at how Hasbro ought to be managing such display pieces, head on over to Banthaskull.com and check out the amazing work of Boutross77, who does this sort of thing right.  Chances are you’ve seen his work before, but today felt like a good time to look back at one of his finer diorama pieces, dubbed the “Hero Booth” from the cantina.

Personal note:  My fingers are crossed that someway, somehow, Disney takes over the playset/diorama rights in the 3.75″ scale from Hasbro and starts to deliver on a concept that clearly Hasbro is completely clueless on.  This whole post is certainly a “personal note,” so please pardon my passion on this subject.

Possible Customizing Remedy for Luke’s Arms

fixluke2

Quite a few collectors have shared their annoyance in our forums with the appearance of the arms on Hasbro’s new Dagobah Luke.  But there may be other options to “fix” this young Jedi by borrowing parts from other figures – such as the 2004 VOTC Luke.

There’s no guarantee this will be a perfect remedy (or work at all), but as a customizer this is something that I intend to try and modify as best I can – and there’s no doubt we’ll see many other customizers attempting to correct Hasbro’s work on this figure too.  What do you think?  Sound off with your thoughts in the forums.

By now, you have seen the loose images of the Yoda (3-3/4″ scale) from the Black Series over at Jedi Temple Archives and to say that many are disappointed in the final product would be an understatement. How did things go so wrong? Click on through to be reminded of the original/proposed design for this figure.

3-3/4″ TBS Yoda Backpack Design Change

yodapackchanges

Our friends at Jedi Temple Archives have been posting some detailed, in-hand images of the new 3-3/4″ Black Series Dagobah Luke and Yoda figures. In the photography I noticed that the production version of the training backpack now features a side release buckle closure for the chest strap – original images showed a velcro/hook and loop style closure. Customizer Mega Spotlight

The hobby may be shifting toward Star Wars Rebels and Episode VII buzz, but all the while, customizers from around the world continue to pump out great custom figures from previously established reference material.

First up, clone custom guru Wraithnine has added some more masterpieces to his Republic forces, which you can check out here.

Peakob1 also gets into the mix, with another outstanding custom in the Clone Wars styling.

We’re also treated to a much more realistic look to Greedo’s vest by customizing master Evilivo, which can be seen in his thread.

Last but certainly not least, soft goods master mousedroidhoojib shares his rendition of a concept version of Padme Amidala.

Check these out, and all the countless other custom figures posted in our forums.
