Target Exclusive 3-pks – Price Hike!

While checking out a clearance endcap at Target today, I saw a vintage 3-pk marked down to $9.98 (or something like that)… I had bought a few of these last week at the same store for this price, and decided to scan this one on the off chance it was marked down to 75% off now… instead, it rang up at $24.99!  This was the old, dusty Needa-Dengar-AT-AT Driver set…  strange, eh?

And also today, according to our friends at Jedidefender.com, this is a new DPCI number, 087-06-1172 – hopefully soon we’ll find out more details regarding some sets of new figures… though the price increase certainly isn’t welcome!

The “Lost Line” Look

A few people have sent in questions regarding source material for the “lost line” look that Hasbro will be using on 6 of the individual cards included in SDCC Exclusive Carbon Freezing Chamber set (and on Limited Edition chase/variant cards available later at retail).

For the answers, look no further than The Star Wars Collectors Archive web site for illustration images of this abandoned concept to the iconic 1977-1985 Kenner packaging design we know today.

As you’ll see, the new cardbacks are very faithful to the original concept and exude that “70’s” feel.

Hasbro Announces Star Wars AMP’D

Hasbro has issued a pre-Toy Fair press release announcing several new products spanning all of their licenses. For the Star Wars brand, they’re pushing the Fighter Pods pretty hard but also a new line called STAR WARS AMP’D due this fall. From their press release:

In fall, kids can gear up for battle with STAR WARS AMP’D. For the first time ever, kids will be able to quickly and easily customize the most iconic STAR WARS vehicles and prepare them for any mission: land, space, sea or air! In 2012, the line features 9 figures and 6 vehicles.

Interesting to say the least. Look for more details on this as we present our coverage of Toy Fair 2012 live from the Big Apple!
