Yakfinities #59 – Takodona Denizens

TAKODANA

The current Yakfinities Customizing Challenge is well underway, and the theme is Takodana Denizens… or you may better know them as bizarre creatures and droids from Maz Kanata’s castle.

Check out the latest custom entries by clicking here… but… as always, we’ll have some random prizes to hand out – so, why not roll up your sleeves and show off your customizing skills or lack thereof?  The deadline for entries is March 31.

SAGA TOYS in St. Louis

sagatoys

If you’re anywhere near the St. Louis area, I have to recommend you check out SAGA TOYS.

I’ve personally already picked up many items from this collector (and kid!) friendly store and will continue to make them one of my weekly stops.

This place has a fantastic variety of loose and carded toys across a variety of brands such as Star Wars, GI JOE, Transformers, LEGO and more.  The prices are very fair too.

Be sure to check them out if you’re in the area, and “like” their Facebook Page!

Fan-Fiction Photonovel Stories Update

novel1

All the attention is around The Force Awakens, but we’d be remiss to not mention that there have been some great new fan-fiction stories being shared in the photonovel section of our forums recently .

Forum member CloneCrazy has recently shared the latest installment in his Will Of The Force series, and Jodo has also posted a new chapter in his Era of Darkness saga.

With great special effects, custom figures, dioramas and creative storytelling, both of these artists continue to up their game – check out their latest efforts and other fan stories in the Yakface Forums after the jump!

Beware of Fused Joints on 3.75″ Black Series Finn

brokenfinn2

While it was a nice surprise finding Wal-Marts latest wave of 3.75″ Black Series today, the excitement quickly turned to aggravation once opening Finn… I picked up two of this figure, and both had fused right elbow joints.

The first one snapped immediately – the second one I was able to save only through my experience with customizing.  Hopefully this doesn’t turn out to be a widespread issue… but please share your experiences after the jump!

New Year, New Price

It appears that with the new year, Wal-Mart has increased the price of basic TFA figures by about a dollar each.  This puts them closer in line with the likes of competing retailers; and after having a hard time keeping Star Wars figures in stock around the holidays, this price hike comes as little surprise.  So be prepared to pay a little more for the “budget line” moving forward.
