Last month, we launched a joint Star Wars: Rebels customizing event with our friends at Imperialshipyards – and so far, we’ve had several great submissions, which you can check out here.

A new Customizing Challenge is upon us, and we’re back to more Original Trilogy goodness with this one – Jabba’s Entourage! Of course though, as with all Yakfinities, customizers can branch out and create fan fiction characters, and certainly the prequels and Clone Wars characters that are part of Jabba’s gang are fair game too.

Our very own localgotal strikes back with another stellar Concept Series update this week, and it’s one that a lot of fans have been hoping would see action figure form for decades now. While a bit of a controversial character, it’s hard to imagine it wouldn’t fit right in with the old Comic Packs format that Hasbro used to excel at. Chomping at the bit to see what this is? Toys”R”us locations are marking down quite a few older Star Wars items right now, which includes a variety of items that you’ve probably seen at your store for quite some time. But at 40% off, you may find something worth caving in on. As always your mileage and finds will vary — but if you’ve got a Toys”R”us store in your area, it may be worth your while to swing by and see if you can walk away with a score or two.
We’ve got another Concept Series update by localgotal , who returns with a killer battle pack mockup featuring a key scene from Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope!
Be sure to check out this latest mockup, which seems like another sure fire hit that Hasbro has overlooked. But hey, maybe at SDCC we’ll see some awesome surprises similar to the great concepts localgotal has been presenting the past number of months.
After a bit of a much deserved break, localgotal returns with another stunning addition to his Concept Series… Cinema Scenes! This format of action figure 3-pks was very enjoyable back in the 1990s, and if done in the fashion that are shown in the forums, it seems that these would be very popular again, if not more successful. Yahoo Movies has posted an interesting article regarding a short 25-minute fantasy epic that was shown for a brief time back in 1980 in some overseas theaters before fans viewed The Empire Strikes Back. According to the article, George Lucas had instructed 20th Century Fox to create something that would complement the dark nature of this Star Wars film.
This is a pretty fun read, and the short film sounds interesting. You will even see some trees that look a bit like the ones on Dagobah here – check it all out after the jump!
Note: It also sounds like there may be a chance that this short film could be included as a bonus feature on an upcoming re-release of The Empire Strike Back on DVD/Blu-ray.
Those of you active in our customizing forums have likely been keeping up on the great work of our forum members, but with all the Toy Fair news in recent weeks, even I sometimes do the unthinkable… I miss some great custom updates from our forum community contributors…
So without further delay, customizing legend Incom has recently created some fantastic custom figures are part of a commission project – I’m certainly envious of his Rachi Sitra Twi’lek custom, and I expect many of you will be too after you take a closer look.
After that, be sure to check out how Evilivo has restored a busted up X-Wing fighter, including sculpting the R2-D2 into the socket – just amazing work!
Forumite Customjedi also has created something that seems like a complete no-brainer (and easy money!) for Hasbro… a C-3PO using the superior Build-A-Droid sculpt. Why the heck hasn’t Hasbro made this yet?
Last but not least, tokiravensky has made a fun take on Han Solo following the events of Return of the Jedi… along with some other cool works definitely worth checking out.
