Episode 364: Star Wars Action News Reads Day in Roseville

Last Saturday was the first annual Star Wars Reads Day, an event promoted by Del Rey and Lucasfilm to promote literacy in general, and the reading of Star Wars books in particular. Over 1,000 libraries and book stores across the country took part, with kits provided by Del Rey giving kids activities and crafts, and promoting Star Wars. Marjorie and Arnie of Star Wars Action News trekked to Roseville, MN for one of these events at Barnes & Noble with guests Troy Denning, John Jackson Miller, and Dan Wallace. On this episode of the podcast, they recap the events and share their hopes for next year’s event to make it even better!

Hasbro Announces Angry Birds Star Wars Product Line

Hasbro Teams Up with Rovio Entertainment and Lucasfilm for New ANGRY BIRDSTM STAR WARS® Line

PAWTUCKET, R.I.— October 8, 2012 – Hasbro, Inc. (NASDAQ: HAS) has announced today it has entered into agreement with LucasFilm to manufacture and globally market a variety of products based on the newly launched STAR WARS edition of the wildly popular ANGRY BIRDS mobile game from Rovio Entertainment. The new ANGRY BIRDS STAR WARS line from Hasbro will launch in the beginning of November 2012.

Hasbro will introduce the line with several new toys based on the ANGRY BIRDS STAR WARS property including the AT-AT ATTACK BATTLE GAME.  The line will also feature new products based on a variety of existing Hasbro properties including the popular JENGA brand and the recently re-launched KOOSH brand, to introduce new play experiences featuring iconic STAR WARS characters re-imagined as high-flying ANGRY BIRDS and villainous pigs.

Angry Birds Star Wars Coming Nov. 8

Those wacky Angry Birds, created by Rovio Entertainment, have already been cast into space. Now they are joining forces with the cast of a beloved space saga.

In Angry Birds Star Wars, a totally new edition of the game out Nov. 8 for iOS, Android and computers, the birds and pigs alike will take on the personalities of characters from the Star Wars saga. “They are not Angry Birds dressed up as Star Wars characters,” says Paul Southern, vice president of licensing and consumer products marketing for Lucasfilm Ltd. “They are characters in their own right.”
