Toyguide Update: MH14 Anakin Skywalker
The Yakface Toyguide updates resume today with the next addition for the 2012 “Darth Maul” product line. We continue with another “new” figure in the Movie Heroes assortment: Anakin Skywalker
PROS: Hasbro tools up a brand new lil’ Annie here and despite the lack of articulation the sculpt is very good and has a great young Jake Lloyd likeness. The podracer-inspired backpack is a nice accessory and styled in a way that fits right into the Star Wars universe. It also works well with the figure’s limited range. We are also treated to a new removable helmet/cowl accessory that looks cool and doesn’t come across as oversized.(This same helmet is available in the Mos Espa Arena Battle Pack).
CONS: Articulation is pretty lacking at only 6 points making this a throwback to an era of sculpting we hoped we were beyond. He doesn’t fit very convincingly in his podracer to the point of saying he doesn’t work with it at all. Too bad Hasbro’s team isn’t forward thinking enough to realize this when planning their merchandise, but this is what we’ve come to expect in recent years.
