Customizer Mega Spotlight

Hunting down Hasbro’s new 2012 figures can be a blast, but sometimes an even more rewarding aspect of the hobby is creating your own customs – and Yakface forum members have been busy doing just that!

First off, forumite hyperdrive has truly mastered the art of soft goods – check out his rendition of old Ben Kenobi, and several other customs benefitting from soft goods “done right” by clicking here!

And have you ever seen a Jawa Mandalorian?  Probably not, but your fears of never seeing one can now be calmed – just click here to see a very unique custom that will blow your mind by Straxus!

DarthDaddy has also been busy – including a custom of R5-P8, a customized assassin astromech droid used by Hondo Ohnaka’s pirate gang.  Check it out here!

Last but not least, forum member mousedroidhoojib shows off some great new work as well, which includes a very cool alien design from ROTS – click here for his customizing thread!

NEW TVC DPCI at Target

One of my local Target store did their reset overnight which yielded new shelf tags for the Movie Heroes and Clone Wars basic figures and most notably the Vintage Collection. The previous DPCI for the TVC line was 087-06-1351 and this particular store charges $10.99 for them (yuck) the new 2012 Vintage DPCI is 087-06-2413 and is priced at $8.99. Save these numbers to do some checking on your own if your store hasn’t reset their aisle or endcaps yet.

Episode 331: Party Like It’s 1999

2012 Product Officially Available Today

Today is the official release/on-shelf date for all of the 2012 Hasbro product that has been hitting stores now for several weeks. Chances are you will have no trouble finding figures from the Movie Heroes wave or remnants from the Clone Wars line. Alas, be prepared to miss out on some of the exclusive products and possible Vintage offerings due to stores not stocking fully or not receiving certain items altogether.

Toyguide Update: CW2 Clone Trooper (Phase II Armor)

The Yakface Toyguide updates resume today with the next addition for the 2012 “Darth Maul” product line. We continue with the new Clone Trooper in Phase II Armor (CW2) from The Clone Wars.

PROS: The Phase II clone finally started seeing some action in The Clone Wars fourth season and Hasbro has done a great job of bringing into the 3-3/4″ line. While paint apps are minimal the new sculpt showcases the sleek look that the clones have in the show and the interpretation of the helmet looks really nice – the perfect bridge between the animated and realistic style of figures.

CONS: Same issues may hold true for some collectors: no ball-jointed ankles, too skinny/cartoony, too clean, etc.

Head to the toyguide for the full image gallery and to judge for yourself whether this figure is worth adding to your collection.

You can also weigh in with your impressions on the figures we add to our toyguide on facebook and in our forums.

UPDATE: Kubrick DX 4 Chase Revealed

Kubrick DX 4 has been officially released by Medicom Toy this week and with that news comes word from Instinctoy’s blog that one of the chases for this set is an Imperial Naval/Stormtrooper Officer. If history is any indicator, expect this one to “command” high prices on eBay as well.

UPDATE: The second chase as been revealed: The black Imperial astromech R2-Q5. Collectors of this line may remember that R2-Q5 was available previously in an exclusive box set back on 2004, only this time, he is the 2 leg configuration instead of the three-legged version.
