Yakfinities # 43 – Cantina Denizens

For all you fans of the Original Trilogy, this is the Yakfinities Customizing Challenge you’ve been waiting for – Cantina Denizens!  Entries don’t necessarily have to be “on-screen” characters seen in the classic cantina from Mos Eisley, but are certainly encouraged!

Whether you’re a crafty customizing veteran or are new to this realm of the hobby, we invite you to join in and take part by creating your own custom figure this round.  And as always, regardless of talent level, we’ll be giving away some free figures to three random winners!

Toyguide Update: VC63 B-Wing Pilot (Keyan Farlander)

The Yakface Toyguide updates resume today with the addition of the B-Wing Pilot (Keyan Farlander) (VC63) from The Vintage Collection.

PROS: A solid sculpt from the TLC Evolution set makes for a great release on the Vintage card. The perfect accompaniment to the Kmart exclusive B-Wing Fighter.

CONS: The relatively unexciting nature of the figure, coupled with it shipping on two different cardbacks pretty much guaranteed this figure “pegwarmer” status. Keyan Farlander again? Really?

Head to the toyguide for the full image gallery and to judge for yourself whether this figure is worth adding to your collection.

You can also weigh in with your impressions on the figures we add to our toyguide on facebook and in our forums.

Episode 328: The High Cost of Collecting

New toys have been found coast to coast. Despite Hasbro’s intent that new Star Wars figures be held back until Jan 30, many stores are putting new figures and vehicles out early breaking street date. What is out there and where can you find it? On this week’s Star Wars Action News, Marjorie and Arnie run down all the new Star Wars items hitting. In addition to new Hasbro toys, they run down the new Valentine’s Day items showing up at Target, and post-holiday discounts as well.

But almost as shocking as new figures found before street date is the new sticker price. Star Wars figures have gone up $1 in price in 2012, and deluxe figures with mini-rig vehicles and mid sized vehicles have gone up even more. What does this mean for collectors? Hear the hosts’ take, and then give your thoughts at 415-508-JEDI.

With a review of the new Star Wars novel Shadow Games and some Star Wars Christmas Gifts, it’s all this week on Star Wars Action News!
