San Diego Comic Con is just around the corner, and just for fun, I put together a mockup of what I’d like to see Hasbro announce for The Black Series (in addition to the cool rumors we’ve been hearing regarding figures like Darth Plageuis, etc.).
Head on over to the forums and check it out, and while you’re at it, share your own wishlist too!
Hasbro’s Naboo Starfighter is one of their better efforts recently, but unfortunately we all know how hard it’s been to track one down due to the overload of Podracers and AAT Tanks in the first assortment of 2012’s Movie Heroes line.
But, even as abysmal as retail has been over the past year for Star Wars merchandise the market actually wants, there’s still hope to find this particular ship if you have a Tuesday Morning or a Gordman’s store in your area. The Naboo Starfighter has been sporadically showing up at these two discount chains in recent weeks – including a recent score by forum member Grimace.

There’s been some amazing custom Sail Barges made over the years, and this auction listing is one of the best ones I’ve seen. Check it out and enjoy all the pics of this spectacular vehicle/playset from ROTJ that Hasbro will hopefully turn their attention to.
Just yesterday, I came across a rare sight – a TVC Darth Malgus at my local Target. After posting this recent find in our forums, Yakface reader Darth Bobo shared a Malgus find as well… but not exactly what he was hoping for. Head on over to the forums for a closer look.
Personal Note – In this instance, the swapper put in a pretty decent B.A.D. figure in the Sith Lord’s stead (perhaps out of some sort of sense of guilt?), but figure swapping isn’t acceptable, regardless of what figure is replaced in the packaging.
Toys”R”us stores are beginning to stock some new Star Wars banks by Diamond Select, priced at $19.99 each.
With the continuous drought of Hasbro product, it’s refreshing to see something new like this in the Star Wars section. The Han Solo in carbonite is particularly cool – head on over to the forums for a closer look!
The latest TVC offering is appearing at more Toys”R”us stores across the United States, and will set you back $129.99 if you’re so inclined to pick up this behemoth.
Note to Hasbro/TRU though – if this doesn’t sell all that well, just remember this is the 3rd packaging variation of the AT-AT in the past couple years! We do love the big items but we also need you to throw a well-executed Death Star playset and a Sail Barge into the mix!
The ToyMan Collector Show returns to St. Louis on Sunday, May19.
With over 180 dealer tables, you never know what Star Wars, GI Joe, Transformers or He-Man items you might find, and often at great prices! For more details, click on the image above.
There was a time when this hobby was simple – walk into a retail store, and you had a fair chance of finding a Star Wars item you wanted to buy. But for a lot of collectors and kids, those days seem to be a thing of the past.
Is all of this Hasbro’s fault? Probably not. But a lot of collectors, like myself, feel that most of the issues with the hobby today rest squarely on the shoulders of Hasbro.
This rant is my own opinion, but feel free to chime in with your thoughts in our forums – even if you think I’m crazy. Because sometimes the truth hurts. Maybe not as much as jumping on a bicycle with the seat missing, but it hurts.
