Hasbro Teams Up with Rovio Entertainment and Lucasfilm for New ANGRY BIRDSTM STAR WARS® Line
PAWTUCKET, R.I.— October 8, 2012 – Hasbro, Inc. (NASDAQ: HAS) has announced today it has entered into agreement with LucasFilm to manufacture and globally market a variety of products based on the newly launched STAR WARS edition of the wildly popular ANGRY BIRDS mobile game from Rovio Entertainment. The new ANGRY BIRDS STAR WARS line from Hasbro will launch in the beginning of November 2012.
Hasbro will introduce the line with several new toys based on the ANGRY BIRDS STAR WARS property including the AT-AT ATTACK BATTLE GAME. The line will also feature new products based on a variety of existing Hasbro properties including the popular JENGA brand and the recently re-launched KOOSH brand, to introduce new play experiences featuring iconic STAR WARS characters re-imagined as high-flying ANGRY BIRDS and villainous pigs.
“We’ve developed a selection of innovative toys and games featuring ANGRY BIRDS STAR WARS that delivers new ways to play for fans of these two great franchises,” said John Frascotti, Chief Marketing Officer for Hasbro. “We’re proud of our heritage of delivering STAR WARS toys that have entertained generations of kids and we’re excited to offer fans of both STAR WARS and ANGRY BIRDS the opportunity to experience their favorite characters and icons in exhilarating new ways.”

Buy 1 Get 1 Free at Toys”R”us
While swinging by my local Toys”R”us store today to grab a few more figures from The Hobbit, I noticed that all Star Wars figures are Buy 1 Get 1 Free – while the selection consisted mostly of repacks, it’s still a very noteworthy sale!
It’s unknown if this is a national sale, but from what I recall, the stickers said the sale runs at least until sometime in November! I will correct that if I am wrong, but that’s what my fading memory tells me… unfortunately, my cell phone pic didn’t capture the image clear enough to clarify.
Toyguide Update: Ewok Scouts (Kmart)
The Yakface Toyguide updates resume today with the addition of the Kmart Exclusive Ewok Scouts from The Vintage Collection.
PROS: For lovers of Ewoks (or Imperial cannon fodder), 2012 has been awesome for collectors as we’ve received nearly a dozen (counting accessory variants) of these little furballs this year. Also, Vintage packaging fans get an introduction to a new way to deliver figures in a nostalglic way. Hasbro is really excited about this packaging form factor and promises that it will lend itself to offering more that just figures in the future. Shipping along side it, this set is complemented by the Endor AT-ST Crew and both sets together, combined with the Kmart Exclusive AT-ST Walker, offer an instant battle scenario that we all recreated as kids.
CONS: Again, like much of 2012 it comes down to availability as there are not a lot of Kmart stores around anymore, hopefully these will turn up on their website soon.
Head to the toyguide for the full image gallery and to judge for yourself whether this latest set is worth adding to your collection.
