Scout Trooper Helmet Issue

warp2

Issues continue to mount with Hasbro’s 2013 line, ranging from questionable figure selections to bubbles falling right off the pegs… and now today I came across two Black Series Scout Troopers with severely warped helmet ridges…

Hopefully this is an isolated incident… but if it’s not, collectors will surely leave these on the pegs and kids that receive them as presents will be disappointed.   Anyone else coming across this?  Share your thoughts/reports after the jump!

Customizer Mega Spotlight

091413spot

We are way overdue for another spotlight showing off the fantastic customizing skills of our forum members, so let’s get to it!

First up, Mousedroid-Hoojib continues to show the capabilities of soft goods customizing with a new version of Padme, which can be seen here.

Forum member wraith_nineyak also joins in the mix, with a new animated custom of Sergeant Krayt from the Clone Wars.

Peakob1 also creates a new Clone Wars custom – but one with a twist by making a realistic custom figure of Rush Clovis.

Last but not least, you have to check out Evilivo’s custom pre-cyborg General Grievous, which is a huge improvement over the Hasbro version… it even has real hair!

Star Wars Celebration Diorama Project

upgheader

Star Wars Celebration VII will be in Anaheim in 2015, and some of our forum customizers have their eyes set on displaying a massive diorama there for all to see.  We worked to do this before in 2007 for Celebration IV so there is precedent, but these projects take a lot of coordination and effort.  The payoff is great though to see it all come together.

Do you have what it takes to join in?  We’re still in the very early stages of this project, and encourage all customizers to check it out and see if you’d like to take part in this after the jump!  We also encourage for all diorama builders out there to offer their suggestions to help make this project a success.

During these dark times of collecting, it’s always a treat to see images of good upcoming figures that will be worth tracking down at retail.

Our friends at Jeditemplearchives have been able to get their hands on several great pics of the next round of figures from The Black Series – check out their pics here, and be be sure to share thoughts on these figures in our forums.

So head on over to Imperialshipyards at that time and listen in!

Jedi Force Multi-Packs

jabba

One of Hasbro’s better toy offerings this Fall in my opinion isn’t even in the regular Star Wars section – it’s down by the Imaginext toys – it’s the Jedi Force Jabba’s Palace Rescue set.  Priced at $16.99, ths is clearly one of Hasbro’s better values these days and is a great set.  It would be nice for Hasbro to continue this format for a while and include some more creatures and cool centerpiece toys in this line for the younglings.

While your mileage may vary, I’ve seen this set at a handful of Targets – but not yet at Wal-Mart or Toys”R”us.  Good luck hunting if you’d like to add this to your collection (or buy for a little one!).

Off Topic – TMNT Figures

turtles2

All the rage with the kids in the toy aisle lately (outside of LEGO, of course) seems to be Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Kindergartners up to adults are devouring these at retail – and there’s some things here that seem to fly in the face of what Hasbro’s doing with their action figure lines these days… these figures are highly articulated, various creatures support the main characters, new vehicles are integrated into the line, and the granddaddy of them all?  The line features a huge playset!   Oh and one other minor detail – these bigger, more articulated figures cost consumers less at the register than most of Hasbro’s product.

Could Hasbro learn a thing or two from Playmates?  Or is Hasbro’s new direction for action figures a better model?  Share your thoughts after the jump!
