Yakface is proud to announce a tribute to a friend of the community who passed away last summer – a multi-site customizing contest that was in the works by a collector know around the forums as MercuryArtStudios. We were shocked and saddened last summer when he tragically lost his life in a car accident.
Mike Martinez left behind a great following in the customizing community and touched a lot of people. In his memory, we wanted to see through an Evolution style themed customizing contest that he had been planning – so we have teamed up with two other sites to make this happen. We are proud to have teamed up with Echo Base News and Imperial Shipyards to host this customizing event.
To help encourage particpation, we’ve also gathered a great pool of prizes – for more information and rules of entry, click here!
Tonight we spotlight the collection of Yakface forum member Ootini – check out his vast collection and amazing custom cabinets used to display his hobby after the jump!
Yakface forum member stroebel83 has posted an image in our forums that has collectors buzzing – who expected the new Mawhonic figure from the “Discover the Force” line to be the size of a Jawa?
Prior to this, the general consensus has been that collectors can’t wait to get this figure, but how does this revelation affect your view of this figure? Share your thoughts in the forums!
For all you fans of the Original Trilogy, this is the Yakfinities Customizing Challenge you’ve been waiting for – Cantina Denizens! Entries don’t necessarily have to be “on-screen” characters seen in the classic cantina from Mos Eisley, but are certainly encouraged!
Whether you’re a crafty customizing veteran or are new to this realm of the hobby, we invite you to join in and take part by creating your own custom figure this round. And as always, regardless of talent level, we’ll be giving away some free figures to three random winners!
Another Yakfinities Customizing Challenge has just wrapped up! And thanks to the continued participation by the customizing community, we once again we have full gallery of custom figures for your viewing pleasure!
The theme this round was Mirrored Reflections, which certainly got the creative juices flowing – so check out all the entries, and see which members of the Yakface community won some figures from The Vintage Collection after the jump!
Recently our friends at Jedidefender.com brought to our attention that it looks like Hasbro is planning on consumers paying more for their 2012 Star Wars line, and now Toyrus.com is listing the new 2012 Deluxe line for the staggering price of $19.99 – even more staggering when one considers the first wave is nothing but repacks and repaints.
How will even more price increases (especially on items that have been in circulation over and over throughout the years) affect the success of the line? It seems each year more collectors throw in the towel – hopefully we’ll see some pleasant surprises at Toy Fair this February to make us all feel better about it.
NOTE – Forum member combatjedi found these at Wal-Mart already for $16.97, so hopefully that’s a positive sign.
Following a report by JediTempleArchives.com regarding leftovers of the 2010-2011 pegwarmers from The Vintage Collection being marked down on clearance at Wal-Mart, I came across markdowns as well here in St. Louis.
Markdowns may vary by store (or at all) but it might be worth your while to still keep your eyes peeled for some good deals before the official release date of January 30.
Recently, Yakface forum member Eopie Herder came through with some great pics of the 2012 Darth Maul from The Vintage Collection, and now he has posted some excellent images of this Sith Lord from the 2012 Movie Heroes lineup!
This figure is similar to a past version of Darth Maul, but appears to have some new tooling – check out his comparison images after the jump!
