Celebration Anaheim: Vader Case Project

VaderCase1

The Celebration Anaheim Collecting Track is proud to announce: The Vader Case Project

New this year to the Celebration Track is the Vader Case Project. At Celebration IV in 2007, the original Vader Project showcased artist’s talents by having them decorate and alter full sized Darth Vader helmet replicas. The results were stunning with artist’s rendering Vader into everything from a clown to the Statue of Liberty to Vader with a fruit hat. More can be seen about this project at thevaderproject.com.

In a similar style, the Celebration Track has invited over twenty-five Star Wars artists and collectors to decorate a vintage Darth Vader carrying case with their own take on the Dark Lord. The artists include collectors like Gus Lopez, prolific Star Wars artists like  Chris Trevas, and even Nathan Hamill has joined in. The cases will be shown throughout Celebration in the Collector’s Track Social Room. So, stop by and see these wonderful pieces of unique artwork.

Star Wars Celebration Anaheim Exclusive Art Print Pre-orders

SWCA_Corroney_miller_sm

Hundreds of artists were considered for the Star Wars Celebration Art Show, in the end Lucasfilm and the panel of judges selected 35 to create exclusive new illustrations for the event. Some of the artist chosen are known for their work in film and special effects while a handful like Alex Ross, Cat Staggs, Katie Cook, & Ken Lashley are recognizable for their work in comic books. Two such artists are the duo of Joe Corroney and Hi-Fi color design’s Brian Miller who frequently collaborate on cover illustrations for sci-fi comics like X-Files, Ghostbusters, Star Trek, and Doctor Who as well as Star Wars art for book covers, Star Wars Insider magazine, Topps trading cards, and Star Wars collectables for ACME Archives.

When Toy Runs are Depressing… Customize!

customdroids

Retail toy runs have been quite depressing for some time now for a lot of us, but with some spare parts, a touch of paint and a bit of effort, I always find that customizing can add a lot of magic back into the hobby.

Head on over to the forums for a closer look at a handful of oddball droids I just put together, and if you are interested in starting customizing or have work of your own to share, be sure to start a thread of your own in our customizing section.

Amazing TIE Fighter Short Film Complete

A few years ago, we shared a work-in-progress anime project featuring the amazing work of OtaKing77077. He has finished his project and it is a thing of wonder.

What if there was an Empire-focussed short Star Wars animation, drawn with the crazy detail and shading of classic 80s anime that’s all but vanished from Japan nowadays?
Well, I tried my best. Apologies in advance for not living up to Venus Wars standards.
Drawn and animated by yours truly over 4 years’ worth of weekends, with music by the living guitar solo Zak Rahman and sound design by up and coming audio technician Joseph Leyva. Fans of Lucasarts’ seminal 1994 TIE Fighter game may notice a few familiar sights and sounds. That “incoming missile” noise gives me horrible flashbacks to this day…
