concept-series2

It’s another week, which means we have another stunning Concept Series update by localgotal!  This one is sure to be dear to the hearts of all of us that grew up with the Original Trilogy, and even moreso for those that never were able to add the elusive POTF vintage figure of this character to their collections back in the day.

What could it be?  And how much longer do we have to wait to actually get a modern update for this character from Hasbro?  Head to the forums and check this great concept out!

Episode 415: Troops and Roses

Star-Wars-Action-News-Enhanced-Podcast-Feed2-300x225

Star Wars Valentines–they’re not just for the playground anymore!  For decades there have been packages of Star Wars Valentines Day cards, the type that school children give in the classroom, but as Star Wars fans have grown up so have the gifts you can give to your loved one.  From light-up heart-shaped boxes of candy to stuffed Stormtroopers with edible hearts, fans of the original trilogy, the prequels, and even the comics will find items that will make them be yours!  On this week’s Star Wars Action News, Marjorie and Arnie run down this year’s cool, new offerings, and say which are great gifts, which should be collected, and what can be skipped.

Also on this week’s show, Brock returns with his review of Maul – Lockdown, the newest Star Wars novel from Death Troopers author Joe Schreiber.  This pre-Episode I story focuses on the Sith Apprentice infiltrating a prison to find a secret crime lord.  Is this a book worthy of Maul’s fighting skill?  Listen to find out!

With The Gingerprince reviewing the Amazon Exclusive Droid Factory wave of figures, Arnie and Marjorie on a vintage figure hunt at the Toy Man Toy Show, and more, it’s all in this week’s Star Wars Action News video podcast!

Customizer Spotlight: Luke Sprywalker

sprywalker

Tonight we spotlight the latest diorama by forum member Luke Sprywalker, which includes a custom made Gonk droid – this masterpiece looks like Sideshow quality to me and it’s a true shame they’ve never started making environments like this for the scales that Hasbro produces.   Head on over to the forums and feast your eyes on all the pics he’s provided, including “work in progress” shots.

Helping a Collector and Friend in Need

Long time Star Wars contributor Nathan P. Butler (Star Wars Timeline Gold, Star Wars Action News) is in the midst of a medical situation with his wife, Jodi, and is asking the fan community for help. They have set up a GoFundMe account in hopes that our generosity can lessen their increasing financial burden. If you have the means, I encourage you to contribute whatever you can no matter how small.

How can the quality be this bad?

While I am passing on most of the 5POA figures due to their lack of appeal to me, I can’t help but look at the terrible paint applications many of these figures have (when you can actually find them, that is).  Example being the Mission Series Obi Wan Kenobi… I’ve seen 8 samples in person so far, and of those, maybe 1 had a decent paint job on the face.

We see terrible paint apps on a lot of the Black Series figures too – such as the Stormtrooper, which looks hideous.  Does Hasbro even care anymore?  Will this start getting better with Rebels?  Share your thoughts in the forums.
