Toyguide Update: CW18 Clone Commander Fox

The Yakface Toyguide updates resume today with the next addition for the 2012 “Darth Maul” product line. We continue with Clone Commander Fox (CW18) from The Clone Wars sub-line.

PROS: As the Clone Wars line comes grinding to a halt, Hasbro manages to release another nicely painted (save for the helmet error) figure in the release of Fox. The deco overall is as crisp as it is bold with the blood red accents.

CONS: You know the story, the Clone Wars line has taken a back seat for Hasbro and with it, a step backward in articulation. Couple that with the $1 price hike and you have people just not caring about what amounts to as essentially another repainted clone. As of these first shipments, the helmet for Fox has an error that omits a key paint operation shown on the character model and the figure on the cardback. There is no word that it will be corrected.

Head to the toyguide for the full image gallery and to judge for yourself whether this figure is worth adding to your collection.

Price Increases Coming

Our friends at YodasNews have tweeted a report that come July 1, action figures will be going up in price about $1 each do to rising shipping costs to distributors and stores. Since this is explained as a shipping cost issue, one can assume this won’t be limited to the Star Wars brand.

SDCC Exclusive Price Hike?

According to Hasbro’s latest press release, the SDCC Carbon Freezing Chamber is now $10 higher (up from $69.99) from the info released a couple weeks ago. Here is the updated info:

STAR WARS
STAR WARS VINTAGE SPECIAL EDITION CARBONITE CHAMBER COLLECTOR’S PACK

Pretend to visit an alternate reality with this incredible package of seven 3.75” STAR WARS figures—one figure from each film in the Saga, and one figure only available in this collectible set.

UPDATE: Yakface Reader and local collector friend Matt M. noted that maybe the reason for the price increase for this set is due to the fact of Hasbro raising the prices of their merchandise starting July 1. A sound theory for sure.
