Our friends at Jeditemplearchives recently reported that Wal-Mart stores are starting to clear out their stock of SAGA Legends figures, dropping them down to $3.00 each. I’m seeing the same thing in my neck of the woods. As always, your mileage may vary.
Personal Note: This price drop is puzzling, unless Wal-Mart just feels this line is not worth their time. I can only hope that a signal is being sent to Hasbro that investing in their line with quality, variety and more intelligent case assortments is better in the long run for the health of their brands.
It’s another week, which means we have another stunning Concept Series update by localgotal! This one is sure to be dear to the hearts of all of us that grew up with the Original Trilogy, and even moreso for those that never were able to add the elusive POTF vintage figure of this character to their collections back in the day.
What could it be? And how much longer do we have to wait to actually get a modern update for this character from Hasbro? Head to the forums and check this great concept out!
While I am passing on most of the 5POA figures due to their lack of appeal to me, I can’t help but look at the terrible paint applications many of these figures have (when you can actually find them, that is). Example being the Mission Series Obi Wan Kenobi… I’ve seen 8 samples in person so far, and of those, maybe 1 had a decent paint job on the face.
We see terrible paint apps on a lot of the Black Series figures too – such as the Stormtrooper, which looks hideous. Does Hasbro even care anymore? Will this start getting better with Rebels? Share your thoughts in the forums.
Hasbro may be ignoring the diorama and playset market, but as we know, others are not – such as forum member Raylen, who is now offering up a great custom door that fits in great with many Star Wars environments, like Echo Base. He hints that more offerings are on the way, and I have a feeling based on this first item that those that jump on board with these items are going to be very pleased. Head on over to the forums to find out how you can place your order!
Not only is the Galactic Merchants team filling a huge void in collecting by creating great dioramas for collectors, but they’re also remembering the people who pushed to helped promote their efforts by giving a special thanks to us on their new packaging. It’s things like this that go to show what a great community Star Wars fans are.
For those of you that have received your sets so far, we want to hear about it and see your displays! Head on over to the forums and share your pics like others are doing. And if you haven’t received your set just yet, I know they appreciate your patience. This is a huge undertaking for these guys but they are really working hard to make each and every customer is happy with their order.
If you’re like me, you enjoy checking out the after Christmas clearances at Target… those toys are starting to disappear now though, as many stores now have the remainder of their clearance toys at 50-70% off. So if you’ve been holding out on getting sets like the Rise of Darth Vader battle pack for a great price, now may be the time before they’re gone.
Reports have been showing the second wave of Legends figures popping up at some Toys”R”us stores.
I’m happy to report that St. Louis can be added to the list of sightings now, as I was able to score a couple of the new Stormtrooper (two in total, across two stores).
Personal Note: This guy will be hard to army build at one per case, but hopefully Hasbro realizes that this is one 5POA figure that definitely is in demand, and will do something good about it.
Wal-Mart stores are starting to receive the second wave of Mission Series 2-pks. Priced under $10, these would have been a great Christmas gift a few weeks ago… but hey, better in January than not at all, right? Your mileage may vary, but next time you’re by a Wal-Mart it may be worth checking to see if they have them.
We’ve got another great Concept Series mockup by localgotal, which entails a group of figures that Hasbro should release in a multi-pack. I contend that fans of Star Wars would rather see sets like this than Geonosis Jedi packs. What do you think? Would you fork over your hard earned dollars for sets like these?
