Success Or Fail?: Hasbro Pulse TVC Boba Fett’s Throne Room

Initially set to close last Friday, the Vintage Collection Boba’s Fett Throne Room has officially closed for preorders and is listed as “Sold Out”. We now have to wait until late 2023 for this to arrive in our hands. A lot can happen in the world between now and then but thankfully we still have our cash in-hand as, unlike a Haslab campaign, we won’t have to pay for these until September. That said, let’s look at the preorder numbers this generated:

Hasbro Pulse US: 9695 (Max 19750)
Hasbro Pulse UK: 870 (Max 1000)
Hasbro Pulse EU: 529 (Max 1000)

Total: 11094 units preordered (this number may still fluctuate as preorders are cancelled or if/when they reopen.)

What do you think? Based on the numbers sold, it pulled in a little over half of the total allocated product to the 3 Hasbro Pulse stores.

I don’t think I speak out of turn to suggest that this would have had stronger global sales if it was marketed as a Return of the Jedi piece and include Jabba the Hutt — next year is the 40th Anniversary after all.

Preorders Closing at Midnight for the Vintage Collection Boba Fett’s Throne Room Playset

A reminder that preorders* for the Hasbro Pulse exclusive Vintage Collection Boba Fett’s Throne Room will be closing tonight at 11:59:59pm ET. Expected delivery of this set is scheduled for September 2023, preorders may open again as we get closer to that date.

*Preorders won’t be charged until the product is ready to ship.

Preorders Now Processing and Shipping from Hasbro Pulse

Hasbro Pulse has been busy recently in processing and shipping preorders and in-stock items. Over the past couple of days, authorizations and shipping notifications have gone out for the Cassian Andor / B2EMO set, TBS Boba Fett (Arena Armor), TVC Jedi Survivor 3pk. and the TVC Phase I Clone Trooper 4pk. TVC R2-SHW (Antoc Merrick’s Astromech) will also be shipping very soon. Keep an eye on your inbox for these and other items arriving soon.

Editorial: What Do You Get a Company When They Already Have a Calendar?

Hasbro’s U.S. Star Wars product release messaging and transparency continue to be as confusing as ever when it comes to preorders and release dates. At SDCC, they stated during their panel that the Halloween Black Series figures wouldn’t be available for preorder and would be “on-shelf” for Halloween season. Preorders did in-fact happen as the Walmart Wookiee went live today, but the kick in the pants of it is it’s expected to arrive a month and a half AFTER Halloween (est. Dec. 10, 2022) and the Target exclusive Clone Trooper is now live (unannounced) for preorder but the release date is open ended. Sure, release dates are continually up in the air still because of Hasbro’s distribution problems (which were prevalent well before the complications of COVID) so orders may arrive sooner (or later) than that, but holiday dates are still a fixed point on the calendar. Fix your production and distribution schedules so retailers can sell your merch in stores and have them for your customers BEFORE the holidays. Last year’s Christmas figures are being recycled for this year because the delivery window was missed and instead of blowing them all out at clearance and discount chains, they pushed them to the 2022 season. Smart, if not ultimately clumsy because they didn’t even acknowledge those holiday figures when they started to surface last year. High prices and piecemeal preorders are tough to navigate as it is, please don’t continue to muddy the waters with unnecessary online release/in-store date confusion.

TBS Pricing – What’s Your Breaking Point?

Target’s exclusive TBS Maldo Kreis deluxe set will set you back over $40 after taxes. The above is from Arnold, MO.

As we recently reported, Target’s exclusive TBS Mandalorian and Grogu is showing up in stores, and is currently listed as in stock here.

Personal Note: For a variety of reasons, I personally walked away from Hasbro’s TBS line over the summer, and pricing was definitely one of the factors. I decided that moving forward, I’d only purchase items from this line if there was something that I could repurpose for the 3.75″ lineup.

Even though this is an exclusive deluxe set, when I saw this in-store, I had forgotten just how expensive this set would be, which made me hesitate to make the purchase. So, I basically just dropped $40 for a white plastic spider.

For those that are collecting this line, what are your intentions? Fully support this one, or wait to see if you luck out on clearance?
