Star Wars Action News’ 500th Episode!

This weekend is Toy Fair International 2018! Tons of new Star Wars collectibles will be revealed (including, likely, the first look at SOLO toys)! Star Wars Action News will be there to cover all the releases.

But before Toy Fair, here’s a look back at the state of collecting in 2017 and expectations for 2018.

The Last Jedi Receives 4 Oscar Nominations

This morning, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences released the nominees for this year’s 90th Academy Awards and Star Wars: The Last Jedi gathered 4 nominations:

Best Visual Effects
Best Original Score
Best Sound Mixing
Best Sound Editing

Congratulations to Disney, Lucasfilm, ILM, Skywalker Sound and John Williams for their achievement.

Star Tours To Split Prequel and Original Trilogy from Sequel Trilogy

WDW News Today is reporting that Star Tours attractions at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disneyland Park is planning on updating the ride experience giving riders the option of experiences elements of Episode 1-6 or 7-8 and beyond – essentially splitting the characters and locations from the Prequel and Original Trilogies from current Sequel Trilogy (pre- and post-Disney acquisition of Lucasfilm if you will). RICC Exclusive Star Wars Concept Tin Wind-Ups

Rhode Island Comic Con has announced via their Facebook page that they will be offering 3 exclusive classic tin wind-up toys from the Schylling Toys: Concept Boba Fett, Darth Vader and Stormtrooper. Convention admission is required to pre-order and attendees can pick up their purchase at the onsite Show Store the weekend of the show (November 10-12). Walmart Announces Force Friday II Events

Walmart.com has announced their participation in the Force Friday II launch with their Be Jedi Ready campaign. Select Walmart Stores will host a Force Friday Weekend Event with Games and Activities including:

  • Lightsaber Battles and New Product Demonstrations
  • Find the Force Augmented Reality Experience
  • FREE give-a-ways including Trading Discs, Posters and Stickers while supplies last
