An Apology…

This year has been tough for collectors with rising prices, order cancellations and the closure of some online retailers. Many of you have been negatively affected by several of our previous sponsors who went out of business this year, some of which were left with orders unfulfilled and more importantly monies unreturned. Our paid promotion and endorsement of those sites was in good faith and what may or may not have transpired between all affected customers and those sites was beyond our knowledge and control. I’m truly sorry if you are one of the affected.

Gamestop 50% Off Clearance

Multiples of the above figures have been sitting on clearance at the Gamestop in Arnold, MO during the past few trips I’ve made there.

If you have a Gamestop in your neck of the woods, it might be worth your while to swing by and check out their clearance section – all clearance items are currently marked off 50% off the clearance sticker price.

Personal Note: In my finds, very new TBS are not included, nor are most TVC. But there were decent selections of various 6 inch figures and lots of oddball gift type items, stacks of Funko POPs, etc. An employee grumbled when talking to me tonight, and said they had just received 6 more huge boxes of clearance items from their warehouse that he had nowhere to display, and they needed to move a lot more by Christmas. It might be bit concerning by just how much unsold collectibles product Gamestop could be sitting on right now.

TBS Pricing – What’s Your Breaking Point?

Target’s exclusive TBS Maldo Kreis deluxe set will set you back over $40 after taxes. The above is from Arnold, MO.

As we recently reported, Target’s exclusive TBS Mandalorian and Grogu is showing up in stores, and is currently listed as in stock here.

Personal Note: For a variety of reasons, I personally walked away from Hasbro’s TBS line over the summer, and pricing was definitely one of the factors. I decided that moving forward, I’d only purchase items from this line if there was something that I could repurpose for the 3.75″ lineup.

Even though this is an exclusive deluxe set, when I saw this in-store, I had forgotten just how expensive this set would be, which made me hesitate to make the purchase. So, I basically just dropped $40 for a white plastic spider.

For those that are collecting this line, what are your intentions? Fully support this one, or wait to see if you luck out on clearance?

Stock, Sell, Restock, Sell, Restock…

The above retro wave has sold through and restocked several times in some areas.

For the first time in recent memory, I’m seeing a Star Wars Hasbro wave consistently selling and then getting restocked… and selling again. Are you experiencing this in your area? And how far down the Retro Collection rabbit hole do you want to see Hasbro go?

Personal Note: I’m still just lukewarm to the Retro line. It’s a novelty to me, and I pick and choose a few figures here and there. My preference is for the standard TVC line (though I would be interested in a mid-tier line that has modern sculpts, with 10-12 pts of articulation, and a lot more variety than what is offered today). However if the Retro line continues to gain momentum, it’s hard to see Hasbro deviating from this approach anytime soon.
