Head on over to his project page to check out is designs for Chewbacca, R2-D2, Obi-Wan, Stormtrooper, Boba Fett, TIE Pilot and more!

UPDATE: It appears that this project is no longer accepting funds. No explanation was given but I suspect it has to do with licensing.

Episode 337: LEGO Toy Man

This past Sunday the Toy Man Toy Show was held in St. Louis and Marjorie and Arnie were on hand to report, and to shop! On this week’s podcast they discuss the new vintage and vintage vintage items they found at the con, including a Return of the Jedi pop-up book and a deleted scene Luke Skywalker figure.

But their find of the show were two custom items made by a local craftsman–giant sized LEGO Star Wars statues! Fully articulated with removable helmets, listen to hear all about these figures and how you can get some of these for your collection!

With a store report, a 3-D phantom menace book and the Uncle Milton Darth Maul room light, all this and more on this week’s Star Wars Action News!

Discover the Force G8-R3 Harness Variant

While photographing and reviewing the Walmart Exclusive G8-R3 a couple weeks ago, I noted that the power harness for the figure did not match the other harnesses included with the Royal Astromech Droids in terms of paint details/color.

After looking on ebay and reviewing similar image galleries at both Jedi Temple Archives and Rebelscum, I thought I might have inadvertently photographed the wrong harness for the toyguide since I gathered all of the related Naboo astromechs for a group shot.

I solicited my friend Paul at JTA for assistance as he happened to have a few G8’s on card to see if he spotted a variant amongst them and sure enough there was!

As you can see in the side-by-side image, the details on the harness “arms” have different details on the hub section and there is also a different red/green light configuration on the front of the harness arms (not visible in the carded photograph).

You can count on us adding this variant to our G8-R3 entry as soon as I can track one down for myself as all of the versions in my area have had the missing paint details (shown on the left).

Toyguide Update: VC89 Lando Calrissian (Sandstorm Outfit)

The Yakface Toyguide updates resume today with the our next Blu-ray deleted scene figure addition with Lando Calrissian (Sandstorm Outfit) from The Vintage Collection.

PROS: Hasbro releases the definitive Skiff Guard Lando (aka “Tamtel Skreej”) while knocking out a cool deleted scene figure as well. The all-new sculpt of the figure is top-notch with a great amount of detail and texture captured in the skiff guard outfit. The combination of soft and plastic goods for the sandstorm gear works here as it leaves the articulation unencumbered.

CONS: Oddly, this version of Lando is substantially shorter than the General Lando figure released a few months ago. The skin tone is way off as well – it is far too light as compared to Mr. Williams. To me, the helmet seems a little small when placed on the figure’s head but that can easily be remedied by using one of the helmet sculpts from any of the 2004 or newer figures.

Head to the toyguide for the full image gallery and to judge for yourself whether this figure is worth adding to your collection.

You can also weigh in with your impressions on the figures we add to our toyguide on facebook and in our forums.
