Yakface is proud to announce a tribute to a friend of the community who passed away last summer – a multi-site customizing contest that was in the works by a collector know around the forums as MercuryArtStudios. We were shocked and saddened last summer when he tragically lost his life in a car accident.
Mike Martinez left behind a great following in the customizing community and touched a lot of people. In his memory, we wanted to see through an Evolution style themed customizing contest that he had been planning – so we have teamed up with two other sites to make this happen. We are proud to have teamed up with Echo Base News and Imperial Shipyards to host this customizing event.
To help encourage particpation, we’ve also gathered a great pool of prizes – for more information and rules of entry, click here!

Our friends at Jedi Temple Archives have deployed a mechanized rumor report regarding the next vehicle to get the “BMF” super-size treatment. Head on over for their report and then sound off in our forums on what you think of this possible release.
UPDATE: For those curious about those 20 included battle droids that is kind of a red herring as only 4 of them are poseable, the rest are preposed in their collapsed/storage mode. You can read this for yourself here as well as view a small image.
Our friends at Sandtroopers have once again opened the blast doors and have posted images of a new Clone Wars Class I / Fleet Vehicle. Head on over for a look at the Republic Attack Dropship with new Phase II Clone Pilot!

Tonight we spotlight the collection of Yakface forum member Ootini – check out his vast collection and amazing custom cabinets used to display his hobby after the jump!
PROS: A great way to start or suppliment your podracer character collection if you missed out on the initial releases of these figures. The inclusion of the team flags is a nice touch and to have them be plastic and not paper is a welcome surprise. Each figure also includes a Galactic Battle Game card which is great if you enjoy playing or collecting the cards themselves.
CONS: There is nothing really worth picking up here unless you really need the flags which are plastic (not paper). If you’d like these flags without buying this set, you can get custom version that I created here.
Head to the toyguide for the full image gallery and to judge for yourself whether this set is worth adding to your collection.
You can also weigh in with your impressions on the figures we add to our toyguide on facebook and in our forums.
Forum member “EopieHerder” writes in with a report on finding the Dewback and Vulture Droid “Discover the Force” exclusives at Walmart for $29.98 each.

*These are not scans of the flag accessories. They are illustrated recreations.
Yakface forum member stroebel83 has posted an image in our forums that has collectors buzzing – who expected the new Mawhonic figure from the “Discover the Force” line to be the size of a Jawa?
Prior to this, the general consensus has been that collectors can’t wait to get this figure, but how does this revelation affect your view of this figure? Share your thoughts in the forums!
