If you have a Marshalls or TJ Maxx store in your area, it may be worth your time to swing by and see if you can score any toys marked down. Many stores that have leftover 2013 stock are really slashing prices to make room for their 2014 toy sections. As always, your mileage and success may vary.
Movie prop guru and forum member Raylen is back with another new diorama item Star Wars fans have been clamoring for since the mid 1990s… cantina chairs! To find out how you can own your own set, head on over to the forums. Once you have them, all you need to do is crack out the paints and you’re set!
Personal Note: How is it that Hasbro feels it’s good business sense to ignore essential diorama items such as these (and ones that don’t require the expensive assembly process by their labor force)? If it looks cool and is reasonably priced, the market will support it. Simple as that!
The latest Yakfinities Customizing Challenge continues – and the entries have really been mounting up the past couple weeks as customizers create their visions of Space Pirates in the Star Wars galaxy. Check out all the latest submissions, or try your hand at making your own custom figure after the jump!
This week, localgotal returns with yet another outstanding Concept Series submission – two more unmade characters from Jabba’s Palace – alongside a great little creature accessory. Check it out, and enjoy!
Oh, Hasbro… if only you were to invest in the variety in your product like the good old days…
Our friends at Jeditemplearchives recently reported that Wal-Mart stores are starting to clear out their stock of SAGA Legends figures, dropping them down to $3.00 each. I’m seeing the same thing in my neck of the woods. As always, your mileage may vary.
Personal Note: This price drop is puzzling, unless Wal-Mart just feels this line is not worth their time. I can only hope that a signal is being sent to Hasbro that investing in their line with quality, variety and more intelligent case assortments is better in the long run for the health of their brands.
It’s another week, which means we have another stunning Concept Series update by localgotal! This one is sure to be dear to the hearts of all of us that grew up with the Original Trilogy, and even moreso for those that never were able to add the elusive POTF vintage figure of this character to their collections back in the day.
What could it be? And how much longer do we have to wait to actually get a modern update for this character from Hasbro? Head to the forums and check this great concept out!
Tonight we spotlight the latest diorama by forum member Luke Sprywalker, which includes a custom made Gonk droid – this masterpiece looks like Sideshow quality to me and it’s a true shame they’ve never started making environments like this for the scales that Hasbro produces. Head on over to the forums and feast your eyes on all the pics he’s provided, including “work in progress” shots.
While I am passing on most of the 5POA figures due to their lack of appeal to me, I can’t help but look at the terrible paint applications many of these figures have (when you can actually find them, that is). Example being the Mission Series Obi Wan Kenobi… I’ve seen 8 samples in person so far, and of those, maybe 1 had a decent paint job on the face.
We see terrible paint apps on a lot of the Black Series figures too – such as the Stormtrooper, which looks hideous. Does Hasbro even care anymore? Will this start getting better with Rebels? Share your thoughts in the forums.
The current Yakfinities Customizing Challenge rolls on – Space Pirates! So far we’ve had many great entries and hope to see plenty more!
Entering a custom is easy – all you need to do is make a new custom of a Space Pirate of your choice, and share pics in our forums before the end of March.
Hasbro may be ignoring the diorama and playset market, but as we know, others are not – such as forum member Raylen, who is now offering up a great custom door that fits in great with many Star Wars environments, like Echo Base. He hints that more offerings are on the way, and I have a feeling based on this first item that those that jump on board with these items are going to be very pleased. Head on over to the forums to find out how you can place your order!
