We’ve just been informed by our sponsor DorksideToys that the revision case assortment that was to include 3x of the 6″ Boba Fett figures has been canceled by Hasbro. The breakdown of this case was as follows:
YodasNews today has posted the reveal of a large “Hero Series” Millennium Falcon due out later this year. Like the previously announced X-wing Fighter, this vehicle is largely action-featureless save for movable cannons and radar dish (it does not hold action figures of any scale). And despite it looking to have a lot of detail in its sculpt, expect a lower price point due to the simple (hollow) construction and lack of parts. Head on over for additional imagery.

Star Wars collectors have braved the Hasbro booth year after year to get the latest, hottest exclusive toys. While the lines have been long and brutal and the toys expensive it was, at least for the past several years, the only line for exclusive, hard-to-get Star Wars toys. Until 2014. Now, as Disney’s corporate partnerships bring new Star Wars toys around the globe, Hasbro toy competitor Mattel has a license for Hot Wheels from a Galaxy Far, Far Away! The line has been previewed and the first opportunity to get an exclusive Darth Vader car is at SDCC this summer! Today’s big reveal with the repacked 6″ scale Han and Greedo with a flimsy cardboard diorama just illustrates for so many of us, how out of touch Hasbro is with the market. We don’t care about cheap cardboard settings for figures, and we sure as heck aren’t looking to spend our money on repacks of pegwarmers just for the sake of different packaging.
For a refreshing look at how Hasbro ought to be managing such display pieces, head on over to Banthaskull.com and check out the amazing work of Boutross77, who does this sort of thing right. Chances are you’ve seen his work before, but today felt like a good time to look back at one of his finer diorama pieces, dubbed the “Hero Booth” from the cantina.
Personal note: My fingers are crossed that someway, somehow, Disney takes over the playset/diorama rights in the 3.75″ scale from Hasbro and starts to deliver on a concept that clearly Hasbro is completely clueless on. This whole post is certainly a “personal note,” so please pardon my passion on this subject.
