Toyguide Update: CW62 Captain Rex

The Yakface Toyguide updates resume today with the addition of Captain Rex (CW62) from The Clone Wars Collection.

PROS: Captain Rex gets an update with this release with a new sculpt featuring soft goods kama, ball-jointed hips and a BMF rocket pack with posable cannons. What’s cool about that is it can be ditched all together and replaced with a more “series accurate” jetpack that pops out of the back of the larger one. Now that’s forward thinking Hasbro! He’s also accessorized with 3 blaster pistols and the standard fare removable helmet.

CONS: Rex does loose some articulation in the ankles and now has swivel wrists instead of ball jointed ones. There is also paint apps missing from the rangefinder that has been present on all previous Rex figures wearing this particular armor design.

StarWars.com Gets a Makeover

Since its launch in 1996, StarWars.com has periodically undergone changes in order to reflect its growing and evolving audience, and to keep pace with the rapidly shifting nature of the online world. This new version of the site is the biggest re-haul since Star Wars‘ official online presence began, and it will continue to grow and evolve in the immediate future. This is just the start of things, but an important one.

For the complete article and to explore the site, head on over to the new StarWars.com!

A special thanks to StarWars.com for including Yakface on their official Fan Sites page!

UPDATE: Prototype Fett Mailaway Form

Hasbro has made available the Redemption Form for the exclusive Prototype Armor Boba Fett (VC61) online!. Any 5 Star Wars action figure collection UPCs will qualify for this offer. Head to Hasbro.com for the complete details and let’s hope the figures show up on doorsteps in better condition than the previous Mailaway Fett did.

UPDATE: Hasbro must have realized their mistake regarding the UPCs for the Prototype Fett as the website and form now specify the qualifying asst. accepted.

Collect and save the UPC codes of any 5 figures from these Star Wars action figure collections: Vintage (97568 Asst.), Saga Legends (21115 Asst.) or The Clone Wars (94736 Asst.)

So to further clarify, the valid UPCs are from the current Vintage, Saga Legends and Clone Wars collections shipping to stores.

No word yet if orders will be honored for those that already sent in their forms with now non-qualifying UPC.

Toyguide Update: CW55 Savage Opress

The Yakface Toyguide updates resume today with the addition of Savage Opress (CW55) from The Clone Wars Collection.

PROS: As Hasbro’s first Savage attempt, they seem to have nailed the likeness pretty well from the facial sculpt to the overall size of figure. Well articulated and accessorized – perfect for laying the smack down on your clones and Jedi figures.

CONS: No lightsaber included. The yellow color seems a little washed out compared to the CGI render. Could have been served better with ball jointed hips in combination with a soft goods skirt. The right leg seems to be slightly longer than the left (at least on mine) and as a result he leans to the left. He’ll be popular so tracking him down may be difficult for some.
