The biggest complaint so far with Hasbro’s Galaxy of Adventures figures is the laziness in execution stemming from the recycling of previously used sculpts for the first two waves. Things may be changing in that regard in late 2019 as more new figures are introduced as well as vehicles and beasts. What is even more interesting is that we’re hearing of a potential scale change too (comparable scale and price to the 5” Marvel Infinity War line). That would essentially mean that there wouldn’t be two competing 3.75” lines vying for collectors dollars with just the Vintage Collection remaining. Toyfair 2019 is next month so we’ll have to see how/if/when this plays out.
2019 is shaping up to be another exciting year in Star Wars fandom. This year we have Star Wars Celebration Chicago, the (unbelievable) 20th Anninversay of the launch of the prequels with Episode I: The Phantom Menace, the conclusion to the Skywalker story with Episode IX. and so much more!
Yakface.com will be here every step of the way with our unique voice in reporting and hopefully you’ll be here with us too. Thanks to ALL of our readers and contributors for a huge boost in engagement here and across all of our social channels in the past year. And a special thank you to our sponsors and affiliates that continue to support this site and help “keep the lights on” as they say.
While the final cinematic chapter in the Skywalker story draws to a close in December 2019, there will (once again) be a huge marketing push and global launch for products for Episode IX. Rumor has it that this date is set a bit closer to the film launch than the previous installments — October 4, 2019. Barring leaks and official early first looks and preorders, this will be the hard street date for the copious amount of licensed products (toys, books, clothing, etc.) from not only Episode IX but from other sources throughout the franchise as well.
And yes, you can expect us to assemble our downloadable “unofficial” checklist for this event as well.
UPDATE: also of interest, Star Wars will be sharing a merchandise launch date with another popular and highly anticipated sequel. If you have young kids like I do, hopefully that won’t cause your bank accounts and credit cards to be Frozen, too.
StarWars.com has announced the new and returning cast members for Episode IX – including Mark Hamill and Billy Dee Williams. Also Carrie Fisher’s iconic Leia Organa will be featured via unused footage from The Force Awakens. Head to the official site for the full details.
