Over the weekend, forum member Jodo ran into something very few people have seen at a Target store in a long, long time… several new Black Series figures. Not full cases, of course, since Target seems to reject the notion of giving their customers a full selection of Star Wars figures these days, but it still seems like a positive sign (I ran into some stores that also stocked last week, though it was as usual, just 2-3 figures at a time).
Keep those store reports coming in, and hopefully the last handful of figures from the final waves of pre-Episode 7 Black Series actually make it to the pegs in decent supply before the onslaught of product in September…
Funko has updated today announcing their first round of exclusive for SDCC. Star Wars collectors can look for a new Hikari Vinyl figure: Infrared Boba Fett. Limited to 1000 piece.
Another Yakfinities Customizing Challenge will launch in July, but before then, we need for our forum members to decide on the theme. Head on over to the forums to cast your vote.
Also don’t forget, there’s still a few weeks left to submit an entry in the current Yakfinities, Rebel Militia (lots of great customs posted already, so be sure to check those out even if you’re not a customizer).
JediInsider has posted the first look at the packaging for an upcoming 6″ Black Series First Order Stormtrooper. As you recall, the Black Series is getting a refresh later this year to a new red & black theme. So this looks to be an as-of-yet named exclusive, possibly for SDCC. Look for more details on this soon.
K & C Collectibles has added more Star Wars Celebration Anaheim exclusivePins, Black Series 6″ Figures, TOPPS Trading Cards, R2-D2 Cooler, Wedge Antilles Bust, Trilogy Watches, Forbidden Planet Granov B&W Boba Fett cover and Princess Leia #1 – Signed. On this week’s show Flyguy and I discuss the latest collecting news including not one but two waves of TBS 6” figures hitting retail, new details on the TRU/SDCC exclusive Jabba’s Rancor set and a new source in the US for those “cancelled” Legacy Collection figures. New LEGO news leaked this week regarding several sets tied to The Force Awakens and it looks like we’ll be getting gray bricks as far as the eye can see. Disney announced additional info for the next Disney Infinity expansion which focuses heavily on the Original Trilogy and its characters. All of this plus comic news, Star Wars Weekends merchandise, a “leaked” product hitting Mexico from The Force Awakens and more on Episode #64 of The Realm Recap.
Click on through to check out the latest episode and feel free to subscribe to our channel and leave suggestions on what you’d like to see covered on the show.
Also, if you prefer an audio-only version, a downloadable MP3 is available as well.
Derek W. sends word that those “cancelled” Legacy Collection figures have turned up at retail outside of Go! Calendars. He writes:
Build A Droid wave found in Maine. Just bought the 9 figures left at a small independent discount store called Ed’s Grove here in Waterboro Maine. Quite a steal at only 6.99 each! Sadly the Biker Scout, Tie Pilot and 212th Clone were already gone. But how could I pass up a piece of Hasbro History?
For those active in our forums, you’re probably already familiar with the awesome custom diorama pieces that forum member Raylen creates, and offers up to fellow collectors. He specializes in obscure items that some may overlook, but these things are just too cool to not be part of any Star Wars 3.75″ collection.
His latest sneak peek is one many of us have been hoping would be available for our collections for decades now, and that time is finally coming if you’re willing to roll up your sleeves and do a bit of painting! Head on over to the forums for a closer look!
Speaking of variants, a new figure variant has surfaced that actually improves upon the pre-existing figure. Newer releases of #02 Luke Skywalker (Hoth) now feature color matched (tan) elbow pins. The original VC95 and TBS #02 releases has contrasting gray pins that stood out quite noticeably. Click the image above for a closer look.
Thanks to our friend Matt Booker from JediNews for the heads up.
As suspected, the initial shipments of the Black Series #08 Stormtrooper that included the “#08” sticker on the card back and bubble insert covering the “#15” have been corrected. My recent case from Entertainment Earth included 2 stormtroopers, both feature this correction. The date stamp is 50651. If this interests you in the slightest, you can click through to check out the comparisons.
